Traffic Stop Leads to Narcotics Arrest

PASO ROBLES (CA) – On Friday, July 18, 2025, at approximately 9:56 pm, PRPD officers conducted a traffic stop in the 2400 blk. of Golden Hill Rd. on a 2024 GMC truck occupied by two occupants for a moving violation. During the course of the stop, officers observed indicators of possible criminal activity. PRPD narcotic detection K9 “Griff” walked around the vehicle and immediately indicated to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 90 pounds of suspected methamphetamine, and 4 pounds of suspected co***ne, with a street value of approximately $240,000.00.

The driver, identified as Jose Acosta (42 years old from Salina Ca.) was taken into custody and is facing multiple felony charges including:

• 11351 H&S - Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute.
• 11352 H&S – Transportation of Controlled Substance.
• 182 (a)(1) PC- Conspiracy

The passenger, identified as Veronica Romero (45 years old from Salinas Ca.) was taken into custody and is facing multiple felony charges including:

• 11351 H&S - Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute.
• 11352 H&S – Transportation of Controlled Substance.
• 182 (a)(1) PC- Conspiracy
• Outstanding Arrest Warrants out of Monterey Co.
