Ministry of Education, Youth Rising Project, UNIDO & BWI Launch Groundbreaking Two-Week Online and Distance Learning (ODL) Workshop for TVET Instructors in Kakata
Kakata, Margibi County | July 29, 2025 –
The Ministry of Education, in partnership with the Youth Rising Project, the Booker Washington Institute (BWI), and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), officially launched a transformative two-week Online and Distance Learning (ODL) Workshop for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) instructors.
The opening session took place at the TVET Center for Professional Training, Research and Innovation (TCPTRI) in Kakata City, Margibi County.
This workshop marks the commencement of a comprehensive six-month professional development program, running from July 2025 to February 2026.
The initiative is designed to increase access to teacher training, reduce cost-related barriers, and provide flexible, competency-based pathways for the advancement of vocational educators throughout Liberia.
The training adopts a blended learning approach, integrating face-to-face instruction with digital learning. Participants will utilize platforms and tools such as PowerPoint, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, WhatsApp, Padlet, Socrative, and email to enhance their digital skills and ensure continuous learning delivery.
The primary goal of the program is to strengthen the pedagogical capacity of TVET teachers by introducing modern, learner-centered methodologies aligned with 21st-century global teaching standards. Emphasis is placed on practical teaching strategies that foster student engagement, innovation, and employability skills.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a Level 4
TVET Teacher Education Certificate under the Liberia National TVET Qualifications Framework (LNTQF), awarded by the Booker Washington Institute in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
This initiative represents a pivotal investment in human capital development, reinforcing Liberia’s commitment to quality vocational education and preparing a skilled workforce to meet the demands of the modern labor market.
