Because of Eli Podcast

Because of Eli Podcast This podcast was born as a way for me to honor Eli’s memory.

We hope to help normalize grief, help others on their grief journey, help people with things to do while supporting a grieving person, and to have honest conversations about mental health.

Please take a few moments to watch this clip. ❤️

September is Su***de Awareness Month, and this video does a beautiful job of explaining what that really means—breaking the stigma, opening the conversation, and getting people comfortable talking about su***de.

As Eli’s mom, this is a conversation that has changed my life forever.

I lost my son, Eli, to su***de on March 21, 2025. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about him, miss him, and wish I could have one more conversation with my boy.

But I also believe that Eli’s life and his death can have a purpose. That is one of the reasons I started Because of Eli Podcast—to talk about the things that are often uncomfortable, to help people feel seen, and to remind others that they don’t have to suffer in silence.

This video also touches on something that doesn’t get nearly enough attention: postvention.

Postvention is the support provided to those left behind after a su***de loss. Survivors of su***de loss are at an increased risk of su***de themselves. We are grieving, trying to make sense of something that often doesn’t make sense, carrying unimaginable pain, and learning how to live in a world that looks completely different.

We need support, too.

Su***de is not selfish. It is the result of a person experiencing an unimaginable level of emotional and psychological pain.

We have to stop judging what we don’t understand.

We have to stop avoiding the conversation because it makes us uncomfortable.

We have to start talking.
We have to start listening.
We have to start supporting.
And we have to remind people that asking for help is not a weakness.

When someone dies by su***de, the pain doesn’t end. It ripples through families, friendships, and entire communities.

I will forever wish I could change what happened to Eli. I can’t.

But I can keep talking about him.
I can keep saying his name.
I can keep sharing his story.
And I can keep using my voice to try to help someone else.

Please don’t scroll past this because it’s uncomfortable. Watch the clip. Have the conversation. Check on your people. And remember that su***de prevention doesn’t end with the person who is struggling—it also includes caring for the people left behind.

For Eli. For all of our lost loved ones. For the survivors. And for those who are still fighting to stay here. ❤️🫂

Let’s break the stigma. Let’s talk about su***de. Let’s take care of each other.

New episode!!

We recently sat down with John, a combat veteran, and Rev. Jess to talk about their vision for something truly special—a retreat created by veterans, for veterans.

Introducing Ulfhedner Retreat, a nonprofit organization founded by a veteran with a mission to help fellow veterans reconnect with nature, themselves, and each other.

Their vision is to create Viking-themed spiritual and holistic healing retreats specifically for veterans living with PTSD, built around camaraderie, connection, mutual support, and healing.

Sometimes healing begins when we step away from the noise, reconnect with nature, and surround ourselves with people who understand.

We can’t wait for you to hear their story, learn more about their vision, and discover what they hope to create for the veteran community.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Episode 26 is now live!!! Because of Joey🌈

Join us as we welcome Shannon to the podcast.

Shannon shares the joy of being Joey’s big sister, the special bond they shared, and the challenges he faced throughout his life. When Joey came out, he was met with rejection instead of the love and acceptance everyone deserves. He also battled depression and substance use disorder.

But Joey is so much more than the struggles he faced. He was a son, a brother, a friend, and a person deeply loved. His story is one of resilience, love, heartbreak, and the importance of compassion.

At Because of Eli Podcast, our mission is to help others feel seen, heard, and understood. We hope this conversation reaches someone who needs to hear that they are not alone.

Sometimes the family we’re born into isn’t able to be the support we need—but family can also be the people who choose to stand beside us, love us, and remind us of our worth.

No matter who you are or where you are in your journey, you are loved. You matter. 🫂❤️🌈

Just finished this book. After reading it, I would highly recommend it for someone that has lost a spouse/partner to su***de. While there are things that are relatable to any relationship, the author is sharing her experience after the loss of her husband.

This book is very honest about all the ugly parts of losing someone to su***de. The guilt, the judgement, the thoughts of wanting to join them, the loss of friends and family in the aftermath. The book also shares hope that life does move forward and so can you.
