The Graffiti Bridge.
It’s colorful. It’s constantly changing, and for generations, it’s been one of those uniquely Pensacola places where the artwork is part of the landscape.

But there’s another side to Graffiti Bridge that has nothing to do with the paint.

The City of Pensacola’s Wayside Park East & 17th Avenue Park Improvements Project includes a new advanced warning system for the bridge to help it remain undefeated against the challenges of box trucks and their oblivious drivers.

And this isn’t just a “LOW BRIDGE” sign.

The planned system includes overheight-vehicle detection sensors, flashing warning devices, LED signs, cameras, solar power with battery backup, and event logging.

The larger project also includes improvements to the Wayside Park East parking lot, boat ramp, accessibility, sidewalks, and pedestrian connections.

We’re super excited about the improvements, but we can’t lie…

We’ve kind of enjoyed watching the bridge stay undefeated all these years by making U-Haul's look like open cans of tuna.
