The Gulf Coast Voice The Pensacola Voice is an African American owned weekly community newspaper.

The Gulf Coast Voice formally the (Pensacola Voice) was established in 1963 to serve as the voice of Pensacola and surrounding communities. The scope of our media coverage shall fall within but not limit itself to community social, political, entertainment and Economical events. Available are: 3 computers, 2 executive desks, 2 counter desks, 35mm cameras, copiers, office supplies (too numerous to list) a hydraulic jack (almost new) wall unit (cherry oak) washed oak book shelf, kitchen equipment, small refrigerator, metal newspaper boxes, executive chairs plus much more. Please bring a truck and a helper as there will be no one to help with heavy objects. CASH only. Not responsible for accidents and no large bags. Come prepared to have fun and get great bargains! “I am announcing my candidacy for the office of Mayor for the City of Pensacola,” said Lawrence Powell. A native of Pensacola, he began his education in the Escambia County School system followed by degrees earned from Pensacola Junior College, University of West Florida and Troy State University (Master of Educational Leadership) His military career consisted of becoming one f the first 2nd Lieutenant commissioned officers of the ROTC at the University of West Florida, one tour of duty in Germany, two tours of duty in South Korea, a myriad of assignments in the United States to include he Pentagon, Washington, D.C., and one tour of duty in support of Iraqi freedom in Baghdad, Iraq that culminated in his retirement from the United States Army as a Major after 20 years of active service. Sunday evening, over 350 community friends gathered at the Brownsville Community Center to honor Truth for Youth for the multitude of services provided to the children of Escambia and Santa Rosa County. The affair brought community leaders such as County Commissioner Lumon May and County Commissioner Grover Robinson, Mayor Henry Hawkins of Century, Mrs. Mary Johnson, City councilwoman of Milton, along with a host of attorneys and doctors as well as ministers to participate in the joyous moment. March28th, Jaylen Clausell (age 15) was practicing at school, Pine Forest High School, with his team at an AAU basketball practice when he suddenly collapsed to the floor. Upon arriving at the hospital, it was determined that he had experienced cardiac arrest.(Heart attack) As a result, Coach C J Washington, brought the coaches together from throughout the area and put a fund raiser basketball game in place to help Jaylen ‘s parents with the hospital expenses. If you were a child or child at heart, McGee Field was the place to be Sunday afternoon. Hundreds of children and their parents and friends came to enjoy an afternoon of fun and entertainment sponsored by Truth for Youth Organization. The egg hunt ranged from toddlers to teenagers. Every Easter a brave soul goes out to Pensacola Graffiti Bridge to paint a mural that gives God praise, but before anyone can really see it within hours someone rushes down and paints over it.
