It is truly remarkable the change you can see in less than 1 month at Aqua-Tots Swim School Peoria 🏊

Day 1? Mattie was scared, crying, it was tough! But we pushed through, because we understand the importance of swim safety.

Now? Just one month later, she’s LOVING it. She’s so brave, not crying one bit during class and singing, laughing and smiling.

We are truly blessed to have this resource here in Peoria! 🙌

Some late night thoughts here as I wait for these storms to pass by. ⛈️ We were at lunch in a place 2 hours away from Peoria recently.

As I was walking back to our table, I overheard a group of adults talking. I wasn’t meaning to eavesdrop or anything, but my ears perked up when I heard something along the lines of, “and it’s two hours away. And once Caterpillar left, it’s just become not nice.”

The word “Peoria” was then said in the next sentence.

Peoria was then compared to St. Louis (where I grew up, mind you). And it was said how St. Louis is so nice and Peoria isn’t.

Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE St. Louis. It will always have a special place in both Rachel and I’s hearts. But Peoria has become home.

So to hear someone two hours away make this comment stung a bit.

I think first, it’s a lack of actual awareness. This individual doesn’t truly know what Peoria has to offer. Second, it’s reading headlines and random lists online on safe/non-safe places to live.

Don’t get me wrong. Peoria has its issues. Plenty of them. But it also has a lot of heart and soul. A fighter’s spirit.

I pray the work we do here and on Peoria Passport helps chip away at the naysayers and starts to put some positive energy on P-Town. Especially in the family-friendly space.
