We had a blast at Peoria Zoo’s Zootober! 🎃🦒🐯

Fun light-up trails, inflatables, exhibits and both candy stops for the kids - and booze stops for the adults!

Bennett got to see the big black cat! My favorite was walking down Halloween Town (Nightmare Before Christmas).

The event is still going on through next weekend! Tickets are $12/person and can be purchased online or in-person at Peoria Zoo and the Noble Center. I’ll put the link in the comments!

Was disappointed to see the Qdoba in East Peoria has closed! A sign on the door says the Camp Street Qdoba has permanently closed.

It’s the perfect time of year to visit Southern Illinois! We mainly stayed in Carbondale, but visited some local places in nearby towns as well.

Many congratulations to the Metropolitan Airport Authority of Peoria (MAAP) for 75 years serving our communities. ✈️

It was a beautiful evening tonight at Fly PIA, including a Congressional proclamation honoring the airport’s history.

A lot has changed over the last 75 years for the MAAP. But it was exciting to hear about the vision of the Peoria International Airport for the years to come, including the new air traffic control tower!

No doubt about it, Grandma's Cookies’s have been - and still are - the best cookies I’ve ever had. 🍪

Located on Main Steeet in St. Charles, Missouri - Grandma’s Cookies is a staple for new visitors, and those like me who return year after year.

The cookie shop was ranked #1 for the second year in a row on USA Today’s 10Best Reader’s Choice Awards. And for good reason!

Highly recommend checking Grandma’s out.

Halloween and Christmas times are both awesome for walking down Main Street. It’s decorated beautifully and always full of life.

An absolutely gorgeous hike to the Pomona Natural Bridge Trail. 🌳🥾

In Pomona, Illinois - just outside of Carbondale - it’s a beginner/moderate quarter-mile hike down the trail and to the bridge.

Southern Illinois is beautiful this time of year! Love to see the fall foliage coming through and the blue skies.

I’ll tell you what, Underground Public House has some of the best, high-quality food I’ve had in a long time.

I’m the newest big fan of Scotch eggs. Oktoberfest house sausage, smoked Gouda, and more wrapped in Oktoberfest pretzel crust. 10/10, so good.

I got THEE P.B.R. (Pork Belly Reuben). The meat was amazing quality, loaded with flavor, so tender.

Rachel really enjoyed the filet mignon, and the Black + Blue Daily cocktail was a nice intro. The green-looking beer is the Nerdy Dancing, tastes like a Nerds rope!

Definitely highly recommend checking Underground next time you’re in Carbondale!
