When I was 16, I wrote on a Post-It Note (that I still have tucked safely away) that the person I NEED TO MEET is... Mark Rosen.

In college, I would record Mark Rosen's sportscasts and break them down like a football coach and - then - critique my own performance in an effort to get better.

As an intern at the CBS station in Fargo, I asked Randy Moss a question (2002) that sparked an energetic response from Moss that would lead all TV stations & ESPN. Mark Rosen - who had no idea who I was - tapped me on the shoulder and said, "great question."

Over the years, my Minnesota broadcast career has blessed me with the opportunity to meet my childhood hero, but this was the first time we REALLY had time to sit down and talk.

About the TV business, my old school (LONG) journey back home to Minnesota, balancing family/work, and about our passionate work for Rural America in My Town Series.

If you had told me at 16 that I'd one day be a guest on Rosen's show, I wouldn't have believed you. 😊 Oh, and he's even more wonderful than you probably think he is. Thank you, Mark!

Had a moment this AM…

Watching the world slowly light up - out here, alone with God - really moved me.

Blessed beyond measure to be able to meet all of the talented, caring, selfless people who CHOOSE to live in these thriving small towns and dedicate their lives to making it a better place for all. So inspiring!

Today - in Watertown, South Dakota - is going to be a special day.

I pray you make it one, too. ❤️

One thing I'm always very clear on when asked about My Town Series is this:

🗣️ We never say Rural Towns are better than Urban Cities.

Because nothing is better or worse. Or perfect. It just depends on what you - personally - are looking for. 👀

The issue is: for decades the Rural narrative has been painted unfairly and too many people have the wrong idea about the positive realities of our small towns. "My Town" gives rural communities a voice to show the world why talented people CHOOSE to live here while extending open arms to those searching for a high quality of life.

"What we want to do is tell people who have never been exposed to small towns, or who have these misconceptions or these myths, just to say 'Hey, this is out here, and it may be exactly what you're looking for.'" -Hepola said.

MY TOWN is headed to SOUTH DAKOTA in Season 2!

⭐️ Here’s why CHAMBERLAIN-OACOMA, SOUTH DAKOTA was selected for S2 of “My Town”

“A couple of years ago, our family was traveling through South Dakota for a family vacation and we came upon this gorgeous little area along the Missouri River – Chamberlain-Oacoma,” said Cory Hepola, Director & Host of “My Town.” “We pulled off the interstate so we could see the thriving businesses downtown, the new school, and cross over the historic bridge right where Lewis & Clark once stood. Our trip was short, but it had an impact on me. I’m pumped to go back and see why people love to live here!”
