Journal readers are everywhere
From there to here, from here to there, Journal readers are everywhere.
The Phil and Kathy Nelsen family (11 members in total) recently had a two-week vacation in Africa. They visited Kenya, Zambia and Tanzania, and enjoyed a hot air balloon ride over the Masai Mara, a helicopter ride over Victoria Falls and many game drives. They were able to observe all of the big five African animals: lions, leopards, rhinoceros, elephants and African buffalo.
The Nelsen's have lived in Perrysburg for 42 years and have been subscribers of the Messenger for that length as well.

Perrysburg Board of Education Appoints Dr. Kadee Anstadt as Interim Superintendent
The Perrysburg Board of Education appointed Dr. Kadee Anstadt as Interim Superintendent of Perrysburg Schools at its regular meeting on Monday, August 18. Dr. Anstadt began her service on Tuesday, August 19, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep connection to the school district she has long called home.
Dr. Anstadt began her career in Perrysburg as a teacher at Toth Elementary School in 2005. She later served in key leadership roles, including Executive Director of Teaching and Learning and Assistant Superintendent, before becoming Superintendent of Washington Local Schools in 2019. She retired from that position in July 2024, at which time she became an Assistant Professor of Education and Program Director for the University of Findlay, preparing future principals, treasurers, and superintendents for service to their communities.
Multiple potential candidates were considered for the interim role and Dr. Anstadt was identified as the most qualified and best prepared to lead the school district.
“Dr. Anstadt is a proven and respected leader who is dedicated to our staff and this community,” said Susan Rowland Miller, President of the Perrysburg Board of Education. "We are grateful for her willingness to bring her prior experience and strong record of improving student outcomes to our district. She is the ideal person to guide us during this time of transition.”
During her previous tenure in Perrysburg Schools, Dr. Anstadt led numerous successful district initiatives, including expanding academic interventions and enrichment, advancing instructional technology, and strengthening support for both students and educators. Her leadership contributed to Perrysburg Schools’ reputation as one of the top-performing school districts in the state.
The Board of Education will continue discussions on the school district’s long-term leadership plan at its upcoming meetings. The Board looks forward to Dr. Anstadt’s experienced, student-centered leadership as the district enters this new chapter.
