🐱Meet Eli & Peyton! 🐱

Eli (orange and male) and Peyton (black and female) were trapped as strays and are now looking for a forever home, either together or separately. These sweet kittens are about 5 to 6 months old and could really benefit from more human socialization. They are naturally curious and have already discovered how much they love churro cat treats. Eli is the more outgoing of the pair, while Peyton is still learning to trust. Both would thrive in a calm and patient home that can give them time to decompress and blossom at their own pace.

We don’t want them to spend their precious kitten months in a shelter. Every day here makes it harder for them to connect with people. Please consider opening your heart and home to Eli, Peyton, or even both. You will be giving them the chance they truly deserve.

GREAT NEWS ❤️❤️ Eureka was adopted today!

After multiple visits and a careful introduction process with their senior Maltese, Romeo, her new family knew she was the one. They are longtime supporters of the Perth Amboy Animal Shelter, having adopted twice before. Sadly, they recently had to say goodbye to Star, a red-nose pittie they adopted from us 9 years ago. Romeo himself was adopted from our shelter 14 years ago and is now Eureka’s new brother.

Eureka’s journey hasn’t been easy. She was one of four dogs living in the woods with their homeless owner and was surrendered in June 2025. Now, this sweet girl will finally know what it’s like to have a comfy bed and unconditional love.

9/4/25 UPDATE: Ace was pulled by a rescue and is no longer at the Perth Amboy Animal Shelter! ❤️

🐾Meet Ace!🐾 This spunky little guy believed to be a chihuahua mix was recently surrendered along with his female companion, Layla. At 6 years old, Ace embodies all the classic confident Chihuahua traits. He already thinks he runs the show at the Perth Amboy Animal Shelter.

Ace is looking for a forever home where he can continue to show off his bossy charm. While he’s still warming up to handling, he does tolerate gentle pets. Because of his confident personality, Ace would do best in an adult only home or one without young children who may not understand his need for space.

He has shown that he gets along well with small female dogs, so if you have another pup at home, a meet and greet will be required.

If you’re looking for a pint sized pup with a big personality, Ace might just be your perfect match!

Meet Chaz ❤️ This sweet boy’s puppy face might fool you, but he’s actually about 2 years old. He was found as a stray in August 2025 and sadly was never reclaimed.

When he arrived, he was malnourished, had multiple scars, and appeared to be dealing with skin irritations that will need medical follow up.

So far, Chaz has shown himself to be very sweet and seems to get along well with other dogs. Like many of our pups, he is not a fan of the kennel environment.

Believed to be a bully mix, Chaz deserves another chance to be unconditionally loved, cared for, and never discarded again. 🐾

‼️We only have 10 more days to find Emma a long term foster or an adopter. After that she will have to return to her kennel. Emma has a skin infection that she is currently being treated for with antibiotics and baths. Returning to the shelter will reverse this progress! Please if anyone can give her a comfortable home she can hang on to while she waits to be adopted DM us!! ‼️

Meet Ella🐾💛

At just 7 months old, this sweet girl has already been through more than most dogs ever should. She was recently surrendered after living her life homeless with her owner, never knowing the comfort of a warm, soft bed to call her own.

When she arrived at the shelter in August 2025, Ella was malnourished, severely underweight, battling a painful skin infection, and suffering from a bloody “happy tail” from wagging it so much. Despite everything, she is still a happy soul, dog friendly, loving, and full of quiet hope.

Ella will need further medical follow up and treatment to fully heal her skin, but she is ready to start that journey with a family who will love her.

In her kennel, she sits patiently, wagging her tail and looking up at you as if to ask, “Am I next? Will I finally get my chance?”

Update 8/30/25: Today, the Woodbridge Animal Society Volunteers pulled Layla from the shelter, and she is now safe in a foster home. ❤️ Thank you to everyone who shared her story and interacted with this post. Because of you, Layla now has a real chance to regain her trust and hope.

**UPDATE 8/30/25: Layla was taken out of the shelter by Woodbridge Animal Society Volunteers**

Some dogs walk into the shelter and still have hope in their eyes… Layla isn’t one of them.💔

Layla, 6 years old, came in with her brother Ace after being surrendered. While Ace is quickly adapting, Layla is shut down. She’s terrified, won’t let us touch her, and has been losing weight since arriving (swipe to see her surrender photo). We are concerned because she’s not eating well, and that is not good.

Right now, she’ll only gently take treats and that’s our tiny step forward. Layla needs a quiet, calm, patient home, preferably adults only, where she can feel safe again and heal at her own pace. We need someone willing to adopt her and work with her until she can trust again.

Imagine… after 6 years with her family, just to be left behind. Can anyone step up for Layla? She does not deserve to remain at the shelter in this state.
