🐾 Meet the New Adoptable Pets at the Perth Amboy Animal Shelter!

From left to right:
✨ Beatrice
Beatrice came to us as a stray and was never claimed. We’re still getting to know her, but she’s already shown us how friendly and excited she gets when she sees people. We can’t wait to spend more time with this sweet girl and learn more about her personality.

💛 Murphy
Murphy was also found as a stray. He has some mobility issues in his back legs, but that doesn’t slow him down one bit. He’s always happy to see us and loves human attention. Murphy will likely need some medical follow-up, but for now he’s content relaxing in his kennel and soaking up all the love he can get.

🐶 Cora
Cora, a possible beagle mix, was another stray who found her way to us. When we first met her, she was a bit timid with her tail tucked but still curious enough to softly approach for a sniff. She’s shown to be dog neutral and is slowly opening up more each day as we continue to get to know her gentle nature.

❤️ Ruby
Ruby is a 4 to 6 month old puppy who came in with her mother Diamond after living in a car filled with filth and feces. When she arrived, she was malnourished and underweight, but she’s come such a long way already. Ruby can be shy at first, but once she warms up she’s all love and cuddles. She would thrive with a family willing to guide her through basic manners and give her the nurturing she deserves.

Our handsome boy Dice has been with us for over a year with no applications. Somehow, he keeps getting overlooked. People often think he’s “crazy” because he bounces from corner to corner when new visitors walk by, but can you really blame him? He rarely gets to see or interact with people unless one of us takes him out for some fresh air or yard time.

Once outside, you get to see the real Dice, a gentle treat taker, playful, goofy, and always ready for belly rubs. 💛 He’s been with us since he was just an 8 to 10 month old pup, and now at 2 years old, he’s spent most of his young life in a concrete kennel through every season.

When Dice met a female dog, he was curious and excited at first, but after a pack walk and a few sniffs, he settled and coexisted just fine. A meet and greet is required if another dog resides in the home to ensure it’s a good match.

Due to his curious and playful energy, no cats for Dice. He would thrive in an adult home or one with older, dog savvy children who understand boundaries and respect a dog’s space.

Pearl is a 2 year old female believed to be husky/shepherd mix waiting for a forever home! she spends her days laying in her kennel but once she sees us, she lights up with excitement and zoomies to let her out!

Pearl is believed to be dog selective so she would do best in a home as the only pet or a meet and greet is required if another dog resides in the home. Pearl tends to fixate on the cats and displays chasing behavior, so no cats recommended in the home. In three words we describe pearl as loving, playful, social.

Pearl is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and ready to go home today! Come meet this beauty ❤️

Please share for this FOUND dog. He was FOUND on 10/11 on Smith St in Keasbey.
Apparently his owner is from Perth Amboy and lost him during a walk. The person that took his call did not get his information.

*edit to clear up questions and comments about his eyes. This boy has entropian which is very common. He is well feed, clean, knows basic commands and appears very well cared for by his previous owner. *

🐾Chaz is our 2 year old bully mix still looking for his forever home!

Found as a stray in August 2025, this special boy is looking for unconditional love. Chaz is dog friendly, a meet and greet is required if another dog resides in the home. He is an attention seeker who demands love, and wants to be glued to your side. Chaz can benefit from basic training and receiving enrichment. We are unsure how he is with cats. Chaz is also on the smaller side and would make the perfect couch potato.

🐾 Pitbull Awareness Month Spotlight: Pancho 🐾

Meet Pancho, a beautiful 3 year old boy who has been with us since June 2025, when he was found tied outside the shelter. Before that, Pancho lived with his homeless owner and spent most of his life tied up in the woods or crated with other dogs. Sadly, we learned that Pancho was beaten when he barked or didn’t behave the way his owner wanted. It breaks our hearts knowing this sweet boy was punished simply for trying to express himself.

Even after everything he has endured, Pancho still greets life with so much spirit. He is a big, playful boy who lights up the moment he steps outside. When we walk past his kennel, he barks out of excitement, eager for attention and freedom. For a dog who has lived most of his life outdoors, we are not even sure if he has ever known the comfort of a real home, a soft bed, or someone to truly call his own.
Pancho will need a patient and experienced adopter who can give him structure, understanding, and love. Because of his background and energy, he would do best in an adult-only home with no other pets and low activity.

We know dogs like Pancho are harder to adopt out because of these limitations. We know that being a Pit mix, combined with his size and energy, often makes people overlook him. Too often, people get dogs like Pancho because of their strong looks and tough exterior, not realizing that these breeds need structure, consistency, and nurturing to truly thrive. Behind that muscular build and powerful stance is a dog who just wants to love and be loved❤️

When we spend time with Pancho in the yard, we see who he really is playful, affectionate, and loyal. Once he trusts you, he stays right by your side, soaking up every bit of attention he can get. 🐶 We have uploaded videos in the comments showing Pancho’s playful side.

This Pitbull Awareness Month, we honor dogs like Pancho - resilient, forgiving, and deserving of a second chance at the life they were meant to have.

Our classy lady Pearl is still waiting for her forever home 💔

We believe this stunning girl is a Siberian Husky Shepherd mix, around 2 years old. Pearl has been with us since June 2025, patiently waiting for someone to notice her sparkle ✨

Most of the day, you’ll find Pearl resting quietly in her kennel, but the second she sees us, her tail starts wagging and she’s ready for playtime! She was found as a stray and has shown us just how loving and eager she is for human connection.

When passing other kennels, Pearl stays calm and composed. However, during a meet and greet with a smaller dog, she did react, so we believe she may be dog selective and would do best meeting dogs her size or larger.

Pearl would thrive in an adult only home or one with older dog savvy kids. She’s not a fan of cats since she loves to chase them, but she makes up for it with plenty of affection and loyalty for her humans ❤️
