Meet Shirley and Laverne 🤍

PERTH AMBOY, NJ
These sweet sisters were surrendered together with two tiny kittens and worked side by side to raise their babies as a team. Now that their kittens are ready, Shirley and Laverne have been spayed, vaccinated, and are ready for a home of their own.

We estimate they are young at around 1 year old. They can be shy at first, but once they warm up, they love to show their gentle, sweet sides. Ideally, we are hoping these ladies can find a home together. While we are not involved in the adoption process, we can advocate for them and remind everyone that having two cats instead of one is often just as easy.

They have already done everything together. We hope their next chapter is shared too. Come meet Shirley and Laverne today 🐾

Our special boy Murphy is still available for adoption!😢

PERTH AMBOY, NJ
Murphy was found on the streets in October 2025 however we believe he may have been dumped due to his clean nature and friendliness when found. We are unsure of his age but believe he is not too old and not too young. From the moment he arrived at the shelter, he was a friendly and laid back gentleman. Murphy spends his days laying in his kennel (as pictured) surrounded by the barks, and other meows of the shelter. He also arrived with us with some wobbly back legs and we are not sure if it’s from a possible neurological condition or deformity. Besides this, Murphy walks, plays like any normal cat. We believe Murphy can lead a normal life but medical follow up will be needed to monitor this or get more information.

Murphy is an extremely sweet boy. He seems he will do best with no other animals in the home, and would make a great, quiet addition to any family.

Meet Loki💔

PERTH AMBOY, NJ
He was surrendered this past week and is only about 2/3 years old. Right now he is absolutely terrified. The shelter officers say he growls at them, but when one of our volunteers went into his kennel and offered treats, this scared boy gave out his paw.

Imagine living your whole life in a home with people you trusted, people you bonded with, and now finding yourself alone in a cold concrete kennel. Loki is a mixed terrier and his crystal blue eyes look lost. He does not understand where he is or why he is here. He is in defense mode, trying to protect the little bit of safety he thinks he has left.

We don’t know much about Loki yet. We are slowly trying to get to know him, earning his trust little by little. What we do know is that this boy does not want to be here, just like so many others. Is he also going to spend the holidays in this kennel? 💔

🐾Meet Cypress🐾

Cypress came to us as a stray in early November and he is only about 10/11 months old. He is a young Cane Corso with so much potential. Through the gates he does not seem to mind the other dogs and he still has that playful spark.

This breed needs structure, training, and an experienced home. Cypress has shown some barrier frustration which can improve with guidance and socialization. The longer he stays in a kennel the more we worry about how it can shape his behavior.

Cypress is waiting for someone who understands large strong breeds and can help him grow into the amazing dog he can be. 🤎 Come meet him today!

From left to right:

- Cy: 10 year old surrendered senior, lived with another cat (Mechu), extremely sweet. Headbutts for attention. Would do best in a quiet home to decompress. He is neutered, vaccinated and ready to go home.

- Mechu: 10 year old surrendered senior, lived with another cat (Cy), outgoing, sweet. does ok with calm neutral dogs. He is neutered, vaccinated and ready to go home.

- Shirley & Laverne: Estimated to no more than 1 year old, these sisters came in as surrenders. They are shy at first but extremely sweet once they come out of their shell. We would love for these sisters to find a home TOGETHER. They are spayed and vaccinated; ready to go home today.

- Midas: 1/2 years old, came in as a surrender. Extremely outgoing and friendly. Looking for a home to share his love!

- Murphy: estimated to be between 3-5 years old. sweet and friendly boy with lots of love to give. seems to have some back legs mobility issues and medical follow up needed, but that doesn’t stop him from being his best self!

Danny unfortunately celebrated his 365 day mark at the Perth Amboy Animal Shelter in October. Danny was found as a stray October 2024, and has been with us ever since. Estimated to be 6 years old, Danny is often overlooked and unwanted 💔. Danny is a big and strong boy who can use some basic obedience training. Danny is dog friendly and will do well with calmer dogs. Danny would also do best in an adult only home or one with dog savvy older children. Cats are a big NO for Danny.
