π« A Message from Beyond the Light π«
One year ago, on the morning of October 29th, my father, Bill Plante, left this world. But today, I want to share something extraordinary with you β a moment captured just months before everything changed, on May 5th, 2024.
You might have noticed I've been quiet lately. There's been healing happening, and there's a story I need to share.
Something pushed me to start filming everything with my Dad.
I didn't know why at the time β just followed that inner voice. Now I understand.
This would become his final recorded performance. The song? "Leave the Light On" by Chris Smithers.
Dad didn't choose it as his last β the universe did.
He'd been captivated by these lyrics, reciting them to me during our drives to video shoots. Little did we know it would become his parting message to us all.
The song speaks of time slipping through our fingers, of leaving lights on for loved ones, of fighting on even when left for dead.
In his final performance, Dad sang: "Don't wait up, leave the light on, I'll be home soon..."
Carl Jung would call this a numinous experience.
Joseph Campbell might see it as a mythological motif reaching through the veil. I just call it what it is β a little miracle, one of those moments that reminds us there's more to this world than what meets the eye.
This is what Remembering the Soul is all about. Being in exactly the right place, at exactly the right time, for reasons we may not understand until later.
[For those interested in the full lyrics that became so meaningful to Dad, I've shared them in the comments below.]
β€οΈ Miss you, Dad. The light's still on.
