HAPPY PRIDE from the animals at the Philly zoo!

Had such a great time seeing pride on display at the Philadelphia Zoo and buying animal art at the sale run by Greater Philadelphia Chapter of AAZK! My dedicated Philly zoo wall is filling up, but I wouldn’t have it any other way 🏳️‍🌈

I called ahead to ask if they had any special pricing for people with disabilities and caregivers. Their staff was very pleasant and told me to go to guest services when I arrived and to ask for their $15 sensory ticket and a caregiver ticket for an additional $5. The total cost for our two tickets was $20 instead of the usual $42 EACH!

Living with disabilities comes with a lot of extra costs, so I was very happy to learn they offered a discount for disabled guests and that my caregiver didn’t need to pay full price for a ticket either. You are also allowed to bring in outside food and water bottles, so those with special dietary needs are also accommodated!

I’m usually a zoo girl, but I being in a flat, temperature controlled environment while checking out cool aquatic friends (and sloths 🦥) was lots of fun.

I raced my first event as a wheelchair user today! You really feel every change in elevation when you’re self-propelling 😮‍💨
