Reading Terminal Market has been a Philly staple since 1893, when it opened beneath the Reading Railroad tracks at 12th and Arch. It was built to house displaced street vendors and quickly became one of the city’s busiest public markets. Over the years, it survived everything from the Great Depression to the rise of supermarkets. By the 1970s, it was struggling, but a major revitalization in the '90s brought it back to life. Today, with over 80 vendors, it's a must-visit for locals and tourists looking for everything from roast pork sandwiches to Amish baked goods. A living piece of Philadelphia history!
