I find it's hard to go wrong with low angles...
Especially when you spot a field of tall grass to complement your shot!
π₯οΈ We arrived to a cloudy sunset on a South Carolina beach and were afraid of what kind of light we'd get.
Itβs funny because I get excited and motivated on cloudy days. I originally couldnβt figure out why, but I think it's because as a photographer I look forward to cloudy days when planning shoots using natural light.
π Cloudy weather gives you clean and diffused lighting.
βοΈ Luckily, the clouds cleared once the sun neared the horizon and gave way to a clear, cool blue night β¨

π¦ Prickly
This is the shot I got poked in the butt with a cactus for. Def worth it!
βοΈ We spent sunset on a South Carolina beach and (unknowingly) wandered into a field of prickly pear cacti littered on the ground below tall grass.
With my eyes on the deer about 50 feet away, I crouched down...
I was hidden by the grass and the night, but the deer heard me π
πΈ I shot a few photos before the deer wandered further, and it wasn't until I stood up that I felt a sharp pain in my right butt cheek π¦
Not knowing what it was, I called to Angela π
She briskly walked through the field and plucked the prickly pear cactus from me.
We ran back the way we came through the field and onto the trail. That's when we looked down and saw our shoes COVERED in little prickly pear cacti.
We spent the next 15 minutes plucking them out π
Sometimes... it's worth the shot!
π΄ For those of you that don't know...
It's been a journey these past several months.
About 8 months ago Angela and I took control of our lives and left our day jobs to run our businesses full time.
In that time, we've booked upwards of 25 weddings for 2022 at
and a handful of family, maternity, and lifestyle photoshoots.
Angela and her business are coming up to 15 bookings for this year for bouquet preservation - and growing - with her website only being online for a little over a month.
And we're in the process of launching our new digital marketing company, J&A Creations (website and social coming soon).
With 3 local and national businesses signed with us so far, Angela and I are excited to work with our partners to promote their businesses offering services such as social media management, SEO, advertising, website building, and of course our specialties photo and video production.
β€οΈ Thank you again to everyone who's worked with us, supported us, and ultimately helped us keep doing what we love and building something special for ourselves and those around us.

π How we shoot our product photos at @bouquetcastingco π₯³ wait until the end to see! All natural window light at sunset with a soft continuous light to the left to lift the shadows. Camera settings around 1/125 shutter, f/10 aperture, and 200 ISO. Keeping the aperture small so our depth of field is wide enough to catch all the products in sharp focus. We will position the products in a mix of light and shadow to add contrast and depth.
