Cassie Fights Diddy’s Release After Split Verdict: “He’s Still a Danger”

Following the jury’s split verdict in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal trial acquitting him of the most serious charges but convicting him on two Mann Act counts Cassie Ventura, one of the central accusers, has formally urged the judge to keep him behind bars.

In a July 2 letter submitted by her attorney Douglas Wigdor, Cassie asked Judge Arun Subramanian to deny Diddy’s request for release pending sentencing. The letter cites the Bail Reform Act, which requires detention after a conviction for the type of charges Combs now faces.

Cassie argues that Diddy still poses a threat to the community and to victims who testified, including herself. She believes that allowing him to walk free before sentencing could endanger those involved and undermine the seriousness of his convictions.

This response follows Diddy’s own legal team’s plea earlier the same day, pushing for his release based on the jury clearing him of s*x trafficking and racketeering.

Diddy Acquitted of Top Charges in S*x Crimes Trial, Seeks Release Ahead of Sentencing

Sean “Diddy” Combs was acquitted of the most serious charges in his federal s*x crimes case, including s*x trafficking and RICO conspiracy, in a split verdict delivered by the jury. However, he was found guilty on two lesser counts related to transportation for prostitution under the Mann Act.

Following the verdict, Diddy’s legal team sent an official email to Judge Arun Subramanian on July 2, 2025, requesting his release pending sentencing. In the letter, his attorneys argued that continued detention is “inappropriate” given the jury’s clear rejection of the government’s core allegations. They emphasized that Diddy voluntarily surrendered to fight the charges, has complied with all court orders since his September 2024 arrest, and maintained model behavior during his detention.

Diddy now expects the court to approve his release under appropriate conditions, pointing out that his remaining sentencing exposure is far less severe than originally anticipated.
