Workplace relationships are essential in productivity. However, they can be beneficial and challenging in many aspects. In particular, how we handle conflict, problem solving and growth. How are you able to remain professional with unprofessional colleagues? What are the ways you navigate for the greater good? Failure is not a reason to give up!
So often when we fail at something we begin to look at it as the end of the road. We may even throw up our hands and give up believing that our efforts were not enough. Remember failure is an ending to one possibility but serves as a detour. Don’t become stagnant or complacent. Realign yourself and seek ways to improve.

There use to be a time when I scheduled all my self maintenance on Saturdays. This included hair, nails, wax, massages, whatever. As life began to “life” these activities became more like a chore rather than something I enjoyed. My time and how I spend it is not just important but limited. I now choose to do what I enjoy the most.

Please do not negate the fact that during this holiday season there are those who are struggling with the absence of loved ones, finances and other resources. The spirit of grief and depression can lay very heavy during this time. Although the season calls for good cheer, it is a struggle when life has presented challenges and disappointments. Yea, we can look at the glass as being half empty or half full, however, sometimes it is difficult to ration with a logical mind when your heart is broken. It has been nearly 12 years since my beloved mother has been gone, yet there are times like these that make it feel like yesterday. I have found ways to cope throughout the years but there are also times when I could not. I am sending prayers and love to those individuals who find themselves in this space. May God grant you peace, comfort and strength.

I have always prided myself on being secure in my own skin. Believing that who I am and what I want to become was limitless. Despite what was dictated by societal norms, I have the belief that I am capable of doing whatever I want and the only thing that can stop me is me. Whether they said I was too black, or too fat, too short or a woman, it never stopped me from believing in me. Don’t let others limits be placed on you, no matter what, know you can make the impossible, possible.
