Lola Kinks

Lola Kinks Nostalgist • Healing Artist • Vinyl Selectress/DJ • Former Director of Culture, Women In Vinyl

Lola Kinks is more than a DJ—she’s a space holder, a storyteller, and a firm believer in the power of music to heal. The vinyl selectress alter ego of L'Oréal Porçeia McCollum, she blends her work as a healing artist, clinical social worker, sexuality educator, and psychotherapist to create sonic experiences that foster connection, joy, and release. Raised between Landstuhl, Germany, and Atlanta,

GA, Lola’s love for music started early, shaped by her father’s AOR, Brit funk, and acid jazz records. Steely Dan, Level 42, and Brand New Heavies were her first teachers in groove, igniting a lifelong passion for deep cuts and soulful storytelling. She’s drawn to the stories behind the sound—the forgotten gems, the undercurrents of history, and the way a song can bring us back to ourselves. For Lola, DJing is an act of communion—a way to invite people into a shared experience that is equal parts liberation, catharsis, and pure, unfiltered joy. Her sets aren’t just about what you hear; they’re about what you feel—about the moments that shake you awake and remind you what it means to be alive.

At the close of this year, my 2 year term as Director of Culture for Women In Vinyl will come to a close. Can’t say enough about my gratitude for the work of this org and what an honor it’s been to serve on its inaugural Board of Directors.

I got to be a part of so much—from content creation to co-coordinating the WiV 5 year celebration at Chicago’s to collaborating with The Trestle Inn on Women’s History Month programming to raise money for the org to playing the opening set at April’s VinylCon and co-DJing the afterparty/WiV book release event to moderating last month’s virtual info session on Record Stores and Distribution & more.

It’s been such a lovely journey alongside an incredible crew of record enthusiasts with a shared passion for helping others and effecting much needed change in the vinyl industry. I will reminisce on this time and role with much reverence and gratitude and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for the org and its upcoming board.

Shouts out to you, , for your leadership. You are an inimitable force! Big love also to the rest of the outgoing squad. What a pleasure it’s been to get to know and collaborate with you! Looking forward to sharing space again sometime down the line. Until then… 🎧💜🫂

There’s so much I could share about Saturday’s WKDU Philadelphia 91.7FM x Philly AIDS Thrift Thrifty Disco. For one, those folks sure do know how to party and what a joy it was to be among the awesome crew of DJs on board to set it all off (🫶🏽 & 🫶🏽)!

Big love always to you, & the WKDU crew as well as the PAT staff, for your support and hospitality! Many thanks also to the incredible attendees, friends, and fam who made the night such a magical one. See y’all under the disco ball at the next one! 💃🏽🪩🎧💋
