10.29 is my bat mitzvah anniversary. I’m wearing my Hebrew name in honor and despite of antisemitism on the rise. Despite the highest killing of Jews since the holocaust. I grew up very modern in my religion, celebrating the high holidays, going to Hebrew school, Jewish classes and Shabbat in college, birth right, etc. but regardless of how religious I am, I always have been proud to be Jewish. That’s the thing about Judaism, no matter how you choose to honor it, you are accepted. You are welcomed as you are. You are part of a tribe.
My heart is broken for the world right now. I always was kind of taught that the world will always look down on us, but I’ve never truly been this scared. My heart hurts so much seeing the hate from activists and accounts I love. My heart hurts knowing that there are innocent lives suffering. My heart hurts knowing that people actually want my tribe gone. I’m not sure what happens next, but I’m praying for safety and peace for everyone. 🤍
