If you didn’t know and have not been following along with STANG Magazine in the past two years, you have really been missing out. Not only have we converted to a 501c3 nonprofit giving back to our car enthusiast community, the military, and law enforcement, but we have been launching new projects left and right. A few years back we launched Locked & Loaded Magazine which added more to our pages than just Mustangs. The following year we launched STANG Paranormal because we are crazy and like to go ghost hunting all across the country. Last year, we launched our newest project called “Twisted Bombshell”, focusing completely on our military and our military history.

While getting ready for an event at the Battleship New Jersey, we started to talk about having themed events and honoring our family members who served in the military. We started to research uniforms, family histories, and prized possessions that were passed down through the generations.

To make a long story short, out of all of our research, our first Twisted Bombshell book was published and it was a tribute to the 2487th Quartermaster Truck Company (Aviation). They were part of the enormous invasion that landed in Normandy and helped to end World War II. The best part of those months of endless nights and research... we were able to present the first printed copy to the ONLY surviving member of the 2487th Quartermaster Truck Company (Aviation). How cool is that?!?

Since then, STANG Magazine has published two other Twisted Bombshell books. The second was released and presented to Richard Deverter who the book was about and who served with the 49th Armored Infantry Battalion. One of our STANG staff, Rob Villeaume, would visit Mr. Deverter and his wife of 74 years, weekly for the past year at their nursing home and reflect upon his military service. Mr. Deverter earned a Bronze Star but was never given one in person due to it being lost in the sauce somewhere along the way.

On September 26th, Rob gave Mr. Deverter and his wife a copy of the Twisted Bombshell book that was written about him. Two days later on September 28th, Rob presented Mr. Deverter with his Bronze Star. Upon receiving his Bronze Star, Mr. Deverter took his last breathe and passed away peacefully with his wife and Rob by his side.

Rest in Peace our friend. You will always be remembered.

Update: Rob stopped by today and gave Mr. Deverter the Bronze Star that he was supposed to get but never did. He took his last breathe and peacefully passed away literally after Rob handed him his medal.

Yesterday was bitter sweet. My friend Rob Villeaume delivered a copy of Twisted Bombshell Volume 3 (written about Richard Deverter and the 49th Armored Infantry Battalion) to Richard Deverter himself and his wife.

Visiting him every Tuesday for the past year in a nursing home, it was hard for Rob to see Mr. Deverter and his wife’s health decline, but Rob pushed through and got the mission accomplished.

According to Rob, Richard and his wife are in bad shape and laying side to side in their beds in their nursing home and not expected to last much longer. Despite their health, both were able to flip through the pages and have smiles knowing their time here will never be forgotten.

Thank you Rob for being there for this amazing couple who have been married for 74 years and thank you to Richard Deverter and the heroes of the Greatest Generation. May you both find eternal peace when your time comes.

Starting in the 2024 issues STANG Magazine will be merging all of STANG ventures under one roof! STANG Magazine will not only have the “In the Headlights” section and “STANG Garage - Just the Tip” section, but it will gain a Twisted Bombshell “Salute to our Military” section and a “Locked & Loaded Lowdown” section. This will give our fans a variety of content and help us showcase everything STANG has been building for the past 10 years, honoring our Mustang fans, law enforcement, and military.
