Implementing ERM: Programs Lessons from Grace Cricket & UC

🏆 Being a best in class risk practitioner is more than risk assessments, data visualization, reports & disclosures. The best risk practitioners engage stakeholders strategically and influence decision-makers masterfully. They are creative, innovative, disruptive, and amendable to their circumstances, ecosystem, and resources. Risk practitioners that possess some or all of these soft skills are in class of their own.

💡Grace Cricket is clearly in a league of her own with her savvy approach to demonstrating the value of ERM to stakeholders across her entire organization, top to bottom. While her strategy may have been intended to assist with ERM Program implementation, her organization was able to develop its risk culture simultaneously.

The Impact of “Speaking Up” In Risk Culture

👥 A culture that supports and empowers diversity of thought is something that each, and every organization should subscribe to. While tons of organizations across the world suggest that they have cultures that implore their employees to speak up without fear of retaliation, the concept never really moves beyond the letters painted on their lobby walls.
🗣️ As a risk practitioner and a human with a moral compass, I have spoken up several times when I saw something that should not have been. In most instances I was retaliated against in ways that some of you could not even imagine. I operate on a foundation of integrity & character, both of which I will never compromise for any organization. My professional reputation precedes me, and proceeds me, and I will not jeopardize the same for anyone or anything.
