A final closer look for anyone hoping to grab one of these girls later today. Also a friendly reminder that it’s perfectly okay if blindboxes are not your jam, and no toy company can force you to gamble away your funds if you’re not interested in doing so. I think this can be a fun experience for anyone who finds the whole line intriguing and an easy pass for everyone who doesn’t. I would also love to see a future drop without the Blindbox gimmick, and more fashion pack options for the existing girls, cause I think Defa Lucy is making dope dolls. This is a genuinely surprising take on her likeness that in itself is worth some praise (even if she’ll always be Daphne to me). Now overall nothing here really impresses me and i guess that’s by design. It’ll be everything to the people who love it and I hope it’s not too hard of a buy for anyone. There’s something shockingly cyclical about this being a year ago today. And minus some heavily exaggerated eyelashes I still think this is one of my favorite more recent dolls.

Defa has obviously become the subject of a huge debate within the community, and I think it’s equally understandable and overblown. This relatively small brand making the surprising choice to distribute limited release dolls in a Blindbox format has for many become the prime example of our current gamified gambling consumer culture, and has characterized the line as something inherently predatory rather than just a weird annoying gimmick to opt out of.

I know how a lot of you feel about Defa now, but how does this similarly priced playline girl from the past compare?

Happy Birthday to my most fashion forward friend akirataken . A perfect example of why I was never worried to tell my friends about my doll collection, and the kind of genuine creative spirit that kept me feeling like an artist even through my longest musical droughts.

I got the sewing machine as a wedding gift and he’s still the only one who’s used It, but I’ll definitely be more hands on with the Fall/Winter collection. Let me know if you can see where we went wrong 😅

I was convinced the grayish girl was the secret because of how unique her design felt so it didn’t even occur to me that miss headband could be that special. Either way all of these dolls are stars in my book and I’m so grateful to have been sent them early 🥹

Again I know the Blindbox aspect isn’t for everyone and that’s totally valid. It’s a bold choice and one I can imagine shifting depending on this first wave’s reception. But regardless I’d say defa fans and collectors in general are eating good
