🎙️ Did You Miss It?

One of the most important things I've learned through studying nervous system regulation is this:

The body is always responding to something.

Sometimes it's responding to an injury.

Sometimes it's responding to a threat.

And sometimes it's responding to a prediction.

That idea completely changed the way I think about chronic pain and persistent symptoms.

In my conversation with Georgia Thelen, we explore Pain Reprocessing Therapy and the growing understanding that many chronic symptoms may be driven not by ongoing damage, but by a nervous system that has become stuck in protection mode.

What I find fascinating is how this connects to so many of the embodiment conversations I've been having lately.

Whether we're talking about trauma, intuition, chronic pain, emotions, or healing, the invitation is remarkably similar:

Slow down.
Get curious.
Listen to your body.

Not because your body is broken.

But because it may be communicating something important.

This stopped me mid-conversation.

If you’ve been living with chronic pain for a while, you know the dread.

You wake up wondering if today is going to be bad.
You monitor your body for signs.
You cancel plans just in case.

And what the research on pain reprocessing therapy shows us is that the fear itself, not just the pain, is part of what keeps the cycle going.

Your brain interprets the fear as a signal that the threat is still real.
So it keeps the pain signal turned on.

This isn’t your fault. It’s your nervous system doing exactly what it was designed to do.
It’s just stuck.

And stuck can be unstuck.

Chronic pain is exhausting. And being told “we can’t find anything wrong” after years of trying is its own kind of trauma.

But there’s a reason nothing has worked.

And it’s not because your pain isn’t real.

It’s because most treatments are targeting the wrong thing.

Pain reprocessing therapy, nervous system regulation, and somatic healing work at the level where chronic pain actually lives, which is in the brain’s threat response, not just the tissue.

If you’ve been in the chronic pain world for a while, this week’s episode with Georgia Thelen is going to hit different.

🎙️ Just Dropped: My Conversation with Georgia Thelen

Over the last several years, my work has increasingly focused on nervous system regulation.

What started with trauma recovery, Polyvagal Theory, HeartMath, Brainspotting, and SSP eventually led me somewhere I wasn't expecting:

Chronic pain and neuroplastic symptoms.

The more I learned about Pain Reprocessing Therapy, the more I realized this wasn't really a conversation about pain.

It was a conversation about safety.

About fear.

About prediction.

About the ways our brains and bodies learn from experience.

And ultimately, about embodiment.

In this episode, Georgia Thelen and I explore the fascinating world of neuroplastic symptoms, chronic pain, long COVID, nervous system regulation, and how the brain can sometimes continue sounding the alarm long after the danger has passed.

What I love most about this work is that it doesn't ask us to fight our bodies.

It invites us into a different relationship with them.

One built on curiosity, compassion, and safety.

🎙️ Dropping Tomorrow...

Over the last few years, my work has become increasingly focused on the nervous system.

What began as a deep dive into trauma, regulation, and resilience eventually led me into the world of chronic pain, chronic illness, and neuroplastic symptoms.

And the more I've learned, the more I've realized that this isn't just a conversation about pain.

It's a conversation about safety.

It's a conversation about fear.

It's a conversation about the incredible ways our brains and bodies adapt to protect us.

Tomorrow on The Spiritually Curious Therapist, I'm joined by Georgia Thelen, a Pain Reprocessing Therapy coach who shares her personal journey through long COVID, chronic pain, and recovery.

Together we explore:

✨ Neuroplastic symptoms
✨ The fear-pain cycle
✨ Nervous system regulation
✨ Why symptoms can persist long after healing
✨ How safety changes everything

If you've been following my recent conversations around embodiment, this episode is another piece of the puzzle.

Because healing isn't always about fixing what's wrong.

Sometimes it's about changing our relationship with what's happening.

This hit me when Gwyneth said it.

We aren’t born disconnected from our inner knowing. We’re born wide open.

Over time, our protective patterns build up, our analytical brains take over, and that quiet intuitive sense gets buried under everything we’ve been taught to think, fix, and figure out.

The work isn’t developing something new. It’s remembering what was always there.

Gwyneth Flack is the author of Limitless and has been teaching intuitive development tools for over 20 years. Our conversation on The Spiritually Curious Therapist is one of the most grounding episodes I’ve recorded.

🎙️ Did You Miss It?

One of the most powerful questions from my recent conversation with Gwyneth Flack wasn't about intuition.

It was this:

👉 How do we know what is truly ours?

As therapists, helpers, and sensitive humans, we absorb a lot.

We inherit beliefs.
We carry expectations.
We learn ways of being that helped us survive.

But sometimes those adaptations become so familiar that we mistake them for who we are.

In this episode, Gwyneth and I explore intuition, grounding, and what happens when we begin to reconnect with ourselves beneath the conditioning.

Because healing isn't always about becoming someone new.

Sometimes it's about uncovering who you've been underneath it all.

Something clicked for me in this week’s episode.

We spend years, literally from kindergarten, practicing our intellect. Reading. Analyzing. Problem solving. Predicting what comes next.

We never get that kind of practice time with our intuition.

And then we wonder why we don’t trust it. Why it feels hard to access. Why it seems like some people have it and others don’t.

It’s not a gift. It’s a skill. And like any skill, it gets stronger when you use it.

My guest this week, , has spent 20 years teaching exactly that. And this conversation reminded me that the path back to yourself doesn’t have to be dramatic or overwhelming.

It can start with something as small as pausing, dropping into your body, and asking: “What am I actually feeling right now?”

🎙️ Just Dropped: What If It Isn't Yours? with Gwyneth Flack

Many of us move through life assuming that whatever we think, feel, or fear must belong to us.

But what if some of what we're carrying was absorbed from family, relationships, culture, or the world around us?

In this episode, I sit down with Gwyneth Flack to explore intuition, grounding, and how we begin to distinguish our own inner wisdom from conditioning and fear.

One of my favorite takeaways:

đź’ Awareness creates choice.

When we pause long enough to notice what's happening inside us, we can begin asking different questions:

Is this fear mine?
Is this belief still true?
Is this reaction coming from the present moment or from something older?

If you're interested in intuition, nervous system healing, embodiment, or simply understanding yourself more deeply, I think you'll enjoy this conversation.

🎙️ Dropping Tomorrow: What If It Isn't Yours?

Have you ever wondered whether the fear you're carrying is actually yours?

Or whether some of the beliefs, worries, and patterns that shape your life were absorbed from the people and environments around you?

Tomorrow on The Spiritually Curious Therapist, I sit down with transformational teacher and author Gwyneth Flack for a conversation about intuition, embodiment, and learning to reconnect with your own inner knowing.

We explore:
✨ The difference between intuition and anxiety
✨ Why sensitive people often carry emotions that don't belong to them
✨ How to ask, "Is this mine?"
✨ The role of grounding and presence in accessing deeper wisdom

One of the questions that stayed with me after this conversation:

What if some of what you're carrying was never yours to begin with?
