Get ready for the next installment of Indie-Life's First Friday, a celebration of the Arts in West Philadelphia! This month, local mixed-media artists Jonathan Metz, Essence Hampton, Elizabeth Skoufalos and -- back by popular demand -- Nathan Grayson will be presenting their original work.

Smiles are what inspire us. This isn't about money or establishment. We play because this is what we love to do... As long as we know you also love it then that is all the motivation we need. This Wednesday at the Wednesday Night Grand Slam will be "nuclear." We have 4 birthdays, a special feature by Virginia Buck and a "ton" of people will be at the Crab Tavern (201 North Macdade Blvd in Darby, PA from 8:00 to 12 midnight). On Thursday we will have the Thursday Night Grand Slam at the famous Larose jazz club (5532 Germantown Avenue in Philadelphia, PA). Come on out and share the love with us. You already know that music makes you happy. Well, it makes us happy too.. Thank you for supporting live music..

"Tonight and tomorrow will be hot." At the Crab Tavern (201 North Macdade Blvd in Darby, PA) we will be celebrating the birthday of our awesome sax man, Benny Barksdale (and you know you can never get enough sax). The Wednesday Night Grand Slam goes from 8:00 to 12 midnight. On Thursdays we have a great night with the Thursday Night Grand Slam at Larose jazz club (3351 Germantown Avenue in Philadelphia, PA) from 8:00 to 11:00). We had an awesome evening last week and looking forward to a lot more fun this week. If you are grown and sexy you need to be here. There's no reason to stay home. Come on out and hang with us and party your "assets" off. :)
All dressed up with nowhere to go? Come on out and hang with us. We support the art of live music and would love for you to join us. Both events start at 8:00. If you have music in your soul, then by all means bring your soul to us. The old music you listened to has been purged from the radio stations that are left. Local on air personalities are being replaced with syndicated people broadcasting to all outside areas so they can save money. You can't request a song on radio anymore. Music is being cut from our schools. Slowly but surely your culture, music and memories are disappearing so that you can listen to what "they" want you to hear. The best way to keep your music is to "support it." Live music is still here but you need to know where to find it. There are some really nice open mic events in the city and we invite you to check them all out. We do our own popular event at the Crab Tavern each Wednesday (201 North Madade Blvd in Darby, PA from 8:00 to 12 midnight). We also do music on Thursday nights at Larose jazz club (5531 Germantown Avenue in Philadelphia, PA from 8:00 to 11:00). They don't have to control what you listen to (unless that is what you want them to do). No matter where you want to go, live music should be supported. Come on out, sing and/or enjoy yourself to the memories you grew up to, and thank you so much for supporting live music.
