“Jews numbered among Cincinnati's earliest settlers….In 1814, Israel Byer's name is recorded in a newspaper advertisement. Dr. Jonas Horwitz, usually remembered for his role in preparing the Hebrew text of the 1814 Dobson Bible, the first independently printed Hebrew Bible in the United States, turned up in Cincinnati in 1816 advertising a vaccine for smallpox. He seems to have beat a hasty retreat when local doctors attacked him for fear-mongering.”

A YEAR WITH THE SAGES uniquely relates the Sages’ understanding of each Torah portion to everyday life. Quoting from the week’s Torah portion, Rabbi Reuven Hammer presents a Torah commentary, selections from the Sages that chronicle their process of interpreting the text, a commentary that elucidates these concepts and their consequences, and a personal reflection that illumines the Sages’ enduring wisdom for our era.

Good afternoon, My name is Musambo Musambo from Lusaka in Zambia, Central Africa. I have a question for you. _ Are you the writer of the downloadable free Mechon Mamre Hebrew - English Bible Masoretic Text & the JPS 1917 Edition? If so, do you allow people to share scriptures from your bible. _ I have shared a few scriptures on my facebook profile from the DOWNLOADABLE FREE Mechon Mamre Hebrew - English Bible Masoretic Text & the JPS 1917 Edition. I would like to know so that if it is offensive to you, then I can stop using your bible. _ Apologies for any inconvenience this might cause. _ Regards, Musambo Musambo

How many participated in … pre-schools, religious schools, day camps, overnight camps, Israel programs, Jewish Studies courses, and numerous other options?
