Today afternoon on The Divided Line, hosts Varun Menon and Celeste Marcus will talk with Father James Martin (W '82), Jesuit priest famous as the chaplain of the Colbert Report, editor-at-large for America magazine, regular guest on CNN, FOX, NPR, and NBC's Meet the Press, and for his editorials in the Washington Post and New York Times. Father Martin will be weighing in on the recent war of words between Pope Francis and Donald Trump, the role of religion in public affairs, and his life journey since his time at Penn. Following our change in schedule last week, Host Varun Menon and Co-Host Will Shirey will be joined by guest Craig Rutherford from the University of Edinburgh, who will be speaking about the recent passage of "English Votes for English Laws" in the British Parliament. We will also be talking about the apparent landslide victory of Aung San Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy over the military government in the nation's first open elections in over 50 years. The Divided Line is also pleased to welcome James Hiebert as its new producer. We would like to thank outgoing producer Michelle Gassmann for helping establish the program and for all her time dedicated to making The Divided Line the highest rated show on Penn's airwaves in its first year!
