Our Story

Over the years the Cornet Bay Company has developed many products that have become favorites across the country. Our Cornet Bay label items - including our bestselling Louisiana Worcestershire Sauce and Raspberry Chipotle Sauce - can be found at QFC and Fred Meyer stores throughout the Pacific Northwest. Our famous flagship Smoked Salmon Dip and Southern Crab Dip can be found in Kroger and King Soopers seafood shops wearing the Kroger label. It all began backstage at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN, in January of 1987. Arnie Deckwa brought a gift of hot smoked salmon to give to a friend, Brent Burkett, original member of the quartet named “The Four Guys." With excitement, Brent tasted the smoked salmon in the hallway between the green room and Roy Acuff’s dressing room. After that taste, Brent looked at Arnie very seriously and said, “I know you want to sing, cowboy, but you need to do something with this!” Caught off guard, Arnie said, “Do what with it?” Brent said, “SELL IT!!” Arnie: “Sell it to who?” Brent: “Sell it to KROGER!” At that time, Arnie was new to the South and didn't know the grocery business at all, so he looked confused for a bit then asked, “who’s Kroger? To fast forward the Cornet Bay Company has increased its Cornet Bay line with over 30 nonperishable products, twenty products in QFC such as Sauces, Jelly and Seasonings, four products in Fred Meyer, also located on the condiment aisle, and the line of six seafood Sauces located in seafood in the Walmart Supercenters.
