This morning, a criminal citation was issued by Dorchester County Code Enforcement to a subject impersonating a legitimate air duct cleaning company out of Charleston, attempting to receive payment for air duct cleaning services that had not yet been performed. The defendant is a nonresident with ties to Texas. The contact happened as a result of a meet that was setup through the post below, which originated in a local community Facebook group in unincorporated Dorchester County.
The defendant provided information that will allow the County to further conduct enforcement against these impersonators. Be wary of posts from individuals who recently joined local Facebook groups and never contract services with someone you don't know or before contacting a verified business office. You can also ask for proof of their Dorchester County business license. If they don't have one, chances are it is not legitimate.
