🚨BREAKING: Jake Tapper Torches Pete Hegseth's Anti-Leak Crusade With the Pentagon's Own Report
Pete Hegseth just declared war on leakers. Jake Tapper reminded America who the biggest leaker in the Pentagon actually is.
On Monday, the Defense Secretary announced a joint DOD and DOJ task force to hunt down and prosecute anyone who discloses sensitive military information, promising violators would face "the full force of the law." He called access to classified information a "sacred trust."
Tapper was not about to let that one go.
"I know of one leak that put our brave pilots at risk!" the CNN anchor fired back on X. Then he did what he does best. He played the tape. Tapper posted the Pentagon inspector general's own report on Signalgate, the scandal where The Atlantic's editor-in-chief was accidentally added to a group chat in which Hegseth openly discussed strikes on Houthi rebels in Yemen.
The report's findings are devastating. It found Hegseth sent nonpublic information identifying the number and strike times of manned U.S. aircraft over hostile territory, on an unsecured app, on his personal phone, roughly 2 to 4 hours before those strikes launched. He shared it with family members.
The inspector general concluded Hegseth's actions "created a risk to operational security" that could have led to failed missions and harm to American pilots.
Read that again. The man now threatening federal prosecution for anyone who leaks military secrets is the same man the Pentagon's own watchdog says endangered U.S. pilots by texting classified strike plans to his relatives.
This is the pattern with this administration. Every crackdown is a confession. Every rule is for someone else. And it took one journalist with a link and a quote to expose the whole charade.
Tapper didn't need a monologue. He just held up the Pentagon's own report and let it do the talking.
If Hegseth's task force is serious about prosecuting leakers, they should start with the guy who created it.
