On Monday, April 21, 2025, at 5:30 p.m., William Foris, an elderly man with cognitive challenges, was reported missing from a residence off Fremont Loop, south of Mooresville.
Fortunately, William is enrolled in the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Project Lifesaver, a program designed to assist in locating individuals who may wander away from their homes or other places of care due to conditions such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, or developmental disabilities.
Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Deputies immediately responded to the area and deployed specialized Project Lifesaver locating equipment, along with drones and canine units, to assist in the search. Thanks to the rapid and coordinated efforts of our deputies and the powerful tools provided through Project Lifesaver, William Foris was safely located within an hour and returned home unharmed.
If you have a loved one who may be at risk of wandering, we encourage you to learn more about how this program can help you. For more information about enrolling in Project Lifesaver, please contact the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office at 704-878-3180.
