Dear Minister Cosmos,
I am writing on behalf of SSANS 64 RADIO to express our deep concerns about the street markets in South Sudan. We appreciate your relentless efforts to make our country the cleanest and most beautiful in Africa. However, we have noticed that the street markets have become a hindrance to the smooth flow of traffic and pose a threat to the safety and health of our citizens.
Street markets have become a common sight in most major cities in South Sudan. While we understand that it provides an opportunity for informal traders to earn a living, it has become a major cause of concern for everyone. The traders are putting their lives in danger by setting up their stalls on busy streets, where accidents can easily occur. The constant movement of vehicles and pedestrians increases the risk of accidents, which can result in serious injuries or even death.
Aside from the safety risks, street markets also block the streets and cause traffic congestion. This hinders the smooth flow of vehicles and leads to frustration among drivers and commuters. It also causes delays for emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire trucks, which could have dire consequences.
Moreover, the street markets contribute to the growing problem of litter and waste in our cities. Many traders do not dispose of their waste properly, leaving the streets dirty and unhygienic. This not only affects the health of our citizens but also tarnishes the image of our country.
As the current Minister of Environment and Forestry, we humbly request that you look into this matter and take necessary actions to address the issue promptly. We urge you to enforce regulations that prohibit the selling of goods on the streets and provide alternative spaces for informal traders to conduct their businesses. We believe that this will not only decongest the streets but also ensure the safety and health of our citizens.
We strongly believe that with your leadership and determination, our country will continue to flourish and become an example of a clean and well-organized nation. Thank you for your time and consideration, and we look forward to your positive response.
