Meet Scott and Christie Heartquist , who turned their passion for agriculture into a thriving business. From humble beginnings with chickens, sheep and pigs, they now operate the 110-acre Heartquist Hollow Family Farm in Winkelman, Arizona. With the support of AgWest's AgVision™ program, they're expanding their on-site processing plant and are close to achieving USDA certification. Read their inspiring story and learn more about how AgWest is supporting young, beginning and small producers.

Thank you and for including us in last week's Taste America dinner at Valentine. It was an epic evening showcasing some of the Valley's most talented culinarians.

A night that won't soon be forgotten.

AgWest Farm Credit opened its annual $15,000 New Producer Grant last weekend. To help spread the word, we will share three local grant recipients with you now through May 31, 2025.

In our spring issue, learn about Shonri Begay, Carol “Fritz” Fritzinger, and R. Cruz Begay (Three Sisters Bean Farm) who are reconnecting their community through heirloom beans. They used the grant funds for the installation of a new, more efficient irrigation system and some essential tools. Shonri shared that the grant application process helped “conceptualize the farm as a business and dream big about our future.”

If you are at least 18 years old, have big dreams, and have less than two years of operational experience and need financial support, this one-time grant opportunity could help make your dream a reality. Find out more and apply today using the QR code.

Read more about Three Sisters Bean Farm and AgWest Farm Credit in the spring issue of Edible Phoenix.

8 am–Noon.

We have seeds to help get you started.

Seed Savers Exchange has provided us with open-pollinating, climate-specific seeds: beans, corn, cucumber, greens, melons, radish, turnip, flowers and so much more!

Even though this is a "swap," having your own seeds is not required and will join us at

This is sure to be a morning filled with great community, conversation and a raffle too! See you there!
