Former First Lady Jill Biden gave an update on her husband, former President Joe Biden’s health during an appearance on the "Today" show on June 1, 2026. While promoting her new memoir, she said Joe Biden is doing well as he continues to manage stage 4 prostate cancer.

Jill Biden stated, “He’s doing OK,” and added, “I think Joe will live with cancer for the rest of his life.” Biden was diagnosed in May 2025 with prostate cancer that had metastasized to his bones. He underwent radiation therapy in October 2025 and continues receiving hormone therapy.

The former president, now 83, has stayed positive throughout his treatment. In a statement last year, he noted that “Cancer touches us all” and thanked supporters for their love.

The Biden family has faced cancer before. Their son Beau passed away from a brain tumor in 2015, Jill Biden had cancerous skin lesions removed, and Joe Biden had skin cancer surgery in 2025.

Nurse Jennifer Melle has settled her case with the NHS following a dispute over her Christian beliefs in the workplace.

The incident took place in May 2024 at St Helier Hospital. Melle used pronouns consistent with her faith when addressing a transgender patient and offered to use the patient’s name instead. The patient then racially abused her. Melle received a written warning and was later suspended after speaking publicly about the situation. She returned to her position in January 2026.

With support from the Christian Legal Centre, she pursued an employment tribunal claim. The case was resolved before the scheduled April hearing. Melle expressed relief that her employer has now offered an olive branch. She continues to face a separate investigation with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
