The free-standing studio is a quiet and comfortable environment for tracking, mixing, and experimenting. The 15'x19' live room has a high peaked ceiling and produces an open, natural sound that works especially well with acoustic instruments and vocals, but is also very good for small amplified ensembles or full bands with instruments tracked individually. A number of classic microphones are avail
able as is the knowledge of which mic to apply to each unique performance. There are plenty of high quality mic preamps available with more being added all the time. The control/mix room is well treated and was tuned acoustically with the help of McKay Conant Hoover acoustic consultants for detailed and accurate monitoring with a wide stereo field and excellent depth perception. There are also outboard dynamics and effects processors including units from Neve, SSL and Purple audio. Frequency adjustments can be made using outboard equalizers by Neve and API. This gear is very high quality and versatile and can provide anything from a clean and accurate reproduction to a warm, highly colored analog sound. Of course there are various software plugins available also. Finally, to bring everything together, a 16 channel SSL analog summing mixer for outside the box analog goodness. The studio is part of my home, so I have very low overhead. Therefore I can work on a relaxed schedule and very reasonable project fee basis. I'm very open to blocking out significant chunks of time for playful experimentation and wild imagination. Let's get together and come up with a plan that will work for everyone involved.
