Did you know Farmer Maggot was a Hobbit who actually stood up to a Nazgûl?

In The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), Farmer Maggot is the Hobbit who tells the Ringwraith where Frodo can be found. He can also be heard later in the film chasing Merry and Pippin away from his farm.

But Tolkien’s book gives Maggot a much bigger role. He lives at Bamfurlong in the Marish and owns three large dogs named Grip, Fang, and Wolf. More importantly, he is far more kind and helpful than his brief appearance in the film suggests.

When a Nazgûl arrives at his farm searching for Frodo, Maggot is terrified, but he still stands his ground and refuses to be intimidated. Later, he helps Frodo, Merry, Pippin, and Sam by giving them a ride toward the Bucklebury Ferry.

Did you know that while filming The Lord of the Rings, was so afraid of helicopters that he often chose to hike up mountains in full costume instead of flying with the rest of the cast?

Many of the film's breathtaking scenes were shot in remote locations across , and helicopters were frequently used to transport actors and crew. But Bean, who played the noble Boromir, preferred to avoid flying whenever possible. Cast and crew members have recalled seeing him climbing steep hillsides dressed as a warrior of Gondor, shield and costume included, while helicopters flew overhead.

It's one of those behind-the-scenes stories that perfectly captures the dedication of the cast. While audiences remember Boromir for his bravery on screen, Sean Bean showed a different kind of courage off screen—facing long, exhausting hikes to overcome his fear and get the shot done.
