After stabbing Jaylen in the chest and back multiple times, the teen that killed him claimed self-defense.

In a Snapchat conversation on the morning of November 16, he allegedly told a friend that he was “scared there may have been video surveillance of the incident.”

Why would he be “scared” there may be video of what happened that night?

Concerning details like these demand to be heard in court. Join the fight for justice by visiting justiceforjaylenreeves.org.

[NEW STORY] Jaylen was unarmed and stabbed once in the chest and three times in the back during an altercation that lasted minutes.

In a statement containing troubling inconsistencies and contradictions, the teen that killed him claimed self-defense.

When pressed about her decision not to file charges, Rachel Mitchell hid behind Arizona's controversial self-defense laws. She acted as if the decision not to move forward was out of her hands.

Why, then, did she allow a grand jury to decide one of the cases in this news segment? Why would she deny Jaylen the same opportunity—a CHILD who was violently killed?

All cases of juvenile homicide should automatically be reviewed by a jury, self-defense claim or not. Especially in cases of extreme violence such as Jaylen's. And especially when detectives find evidence of second degree murder.

Help us push Rachel Mitchell to let a jury see this evidence. Visit justiceforjaylenreeves.org for ways to get involved.

Our family is demanding accountability. You should too. Experts concluded the facts supported second-degree murder, yet justice was denied.

The self-defense claim used to excuse Jaylen’s death is weak and fabricated. We also believe the excuses and lack of action from Rachel Mitchell’s office reflect a failure to serve justice for a child. Jaylen’s life mattered, and he deserves more than silence and excuses.

We will continue to speak out, for Jaylen and for the truth.

Fighting for justice is hard work. We miss Jaylen so much it physically hurts but we have to keep going. We told him we wouldn't give up and we won't. Ever. He's here giving us strength to continue this battle. What's been done to him is wrong, and we're fighting not just for him but for every family that has felt this pain, and for the families that someday will.

Our elected officials should care more about our safety than their careers. That is their job. Our communities should be PROTECTED, not used as pawns for career advancement and in re-election bids. Jaylen was worth more than that. We all are. The injustice of the "justice system" runs deep and we're determined to bring it to light. We keep going.

January 16, 2026 will mark 14 months without Jaylen, and without justice.

On the 16th of every month, we invite you to light a candle at home in memory of Jaylen and in protest of the injustice that remains unresolved.

Families affected by extreme violence should not be ignored or sidelined by the justice system. This is a quiet act of remembrance and a public act of refusal. We will light a candle every month until justice is served.

If you participate, please share a photo of your candle and tag us on Instagram. We will repost your photo to honor Jaylen and to demonstrate our resolve. Thank you for your continued support đź’™

[Your] [homeboy] [is] done [for].

This is the text the killer sent shortly after stabbing Jaylen multiple times, including three times in the back.

As Jaylen lay dying in the street, he seemingly gloated about what he had done. Went home with friends, ordered food delivery, and slept.

County Attorney Rachel Mitchell claims to have reviewed Jaylen’s case and decided there was no likelihood of conviction. This is just one detail of many that a jury—and the public—should get to hear.

Rachel Mitchell has the power to change her decision at any time. Help us demand that she present Jaylen’s case to a jury by going to justiceforjaylenreeves.org/take-action.

Tonight we attended the The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting to honor the memory of children lost. Jaylen's friends and family that couldn't be there in person lit a candle at home in his name.

Our pain feels unique to us but we know it is shared by families everywhere. Tonight we took a moment not just to honor Jaylen but to be in community with other grieving parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles, and cousins. It doesn't get easier but we know we're not alone.

Join us this Sunday, on December 14th, as we light candles in remembrance of our children, grandchildren, or siblings who have died. Please visit our website to register to attend our virtual candle lighting or to find a service near you.
