Justice for Jaylen Reeves

Justice for Jaylen Reeves 15-year-old Jaylen Reeves was stabbed once in the chest and three times in the back on 11-16-24 in Phoenix, AZ. We demand she present Jaylen's case to a jury!

Detectives concluded 2nd degree murder but County Attorney Rachel Mitchell filed no charges.

111624.

This is the title of a playlist discovered on a Spotify profile appearing to belong to Jaylen’s killer. The profile contained pictures of the killer and was linked to the profiles of his friends, suggesting it was his.

This playlist appeared to have been created in March 2025, three months after Jaylen’s murder on 11.16.24. It was filled with songs about killing and violence.

Not long after we discovered it, the title was scrubbed—changed to a set of combat helmet emojis.

Later, a new playlist appeared on this profile with a title in Mandarin. This title translated to a severely derogatory racist slur: “F***ing N***er.”

This playlist was eventually deleted.

The discovery of these playlists was deeply upsetting and disturbing. One appears to commemorate Jaylen’s murder as a night to remember—like a trophy—and the other is a display of violent racism.

On the third slide is an excerpt from the police report. Two weeks after Jaylen was killed, a friend of the killer reported that he had previously shown her videos of people being murdered.

Together with the text the killer sent bragging about Jaylen’s death, does this sound like someone who killed in self-defense? Is this someone who is traumatized and remorseful about stabbing someone to death, as his family and attorneys have claimed?

Jaylen Reeves was 15 when he was brutally stabbed to death. Detectives recommended murder charges, but the county attorney declined—without a jury hearing the evidence. We're asking Arizona's Attorney General to assign a special prosecutor so Jaylen's case gets the justice review it deserves.

Justice for the Murder of 15-year-old Jaylen Reeves

07/23/2026

Footage from Jaylen’s funeral on December 8, 2024. What the cameras couldn’t capture were the hundreds of people outside the frame: packed in the viewing room, the lobby, and the hallways. Waiting outside for space to open up. The building overflowed with friends, family, teachers, coaches, classmates, neighbors, and complete strangers who had simply heard what an incredible person Jaylen was.

We’ve learned a lot since this aired. That Jaylen was stabbed once in the chest and three times in the back, with more shallow stab wounds to his torso. That his killer’s story of self-defense was full of holes…and that Phoenix detectives saw right through it. Their conclusion was plain: this was second degree murder.

But justice never came. Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell chose to let Jaylen’s killer walk free. She never allowed a jury to review the mountain of evidence detectives had spent months compiling.

So almost 19 months after Jaylen’s funeral, we’re still saying the same things: no arrests made. No closure. Waiting for justice.

Thank you to all the new followers we’ve received over the last few weeks - we see every one of you. For almost two years we’ve been dismissed, gaslit, and re-traumatized by a system meant to help us, but we’re still here. Your support gives us the strength to continue this fight! And we won’t stop until Jaylen’s killer is held accountable.

Thank you to Ian Lightfoot for amplifying Jaylen's story and the injustice that has been ongoing for a year and a half.

One clarification: Jaylen's killer was never "cleared" of charges—he was never charged at all, despite a recommendation of second degree murder charges by Phoenix detectives. We want to see him arrested, charged as an adult, and tried in front of a jury. That's what Jaylen deserves, and what the evidence demands.

We're still here fighting and we need creators like this to help spread the word. Let's keep going!

We’re deeply concerned by the appearance of a conflict of interest in Jaylen’s case.

One of the killer’s parents is a high-ranking executive at the law enforcement technology company Axon.

The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office does millions in business with Axon—in fact, they’re reliant on Axon’s technology to keep their office functioning.

How do we know this wasn’t a factor in Mitchell’s decision to let Jaylen’s killer walk free? What policies are in place to prevent such bias, and were those policies followed in Jaylen’s case? She hasn’t given us any answers.

In cases like this, a jury becomes even more critical. They exist, in part, to act as a third party. To review complex cases and make a final judgement call.

We urge Rachel Mitchell to address this appearance of a conflict of interest immediately. Let a jury review the evidence.

Yesterday, Rena, Brian, and Jaylen’s little brothers were invited to speak at a flag-raising ceremony hosted by the Donor Network of Arizona, as part of Donate Life Month. It took place at Chandler Regional Medical Center, the hospital where Jaylen was transported and where many incredible people made every effort to save his life.

Our loss was another family’s gain—three, in fact. Three people are alive today because of Jaylen’s selfless decision to donate his organs. Even in death, he continues to change lives. He lives on in us, his family, and he lives on in them.

Rena put into words Jaylen’s spirit in a way only a mother could. We know he was by her side, as he is every day. We continue to be so proud of the person Jaylen was and everything he accomplished. Few make an impact of this magnitude 💙
