Three months ago this would’ve crushed me…
I would’ve looked at this as a complete failure and personalized it — no one wants what I have to give, is what I’m offering even valuable? Why did I think someone would pay me for this?? Maybe I’m not cut out for it (you know how the downward spiral goes🌪️)
But I’ve been doing this work on myself behind the scenes… which is actually what led me to take this leap of faith and attempt to plan and launch a workshop series in less than ONE MONTH with NO AUDIENCE (not that the 66 of you don’t count 🫶).
I ran local ads. I printed out event flyers and hung them all over town. I went to networking events (ok one networking event 😅).
I threw up a sales page (a great one, I might add) and waited for that “cha-ching” notification all of the business coaches I follow talk about… seriously, I thought I’d wake up to sales the next morning bc I had a few ads running and a sexy sales page.
I truly thought “if you build it, they will come!”
But no one came… that one ticket? It was just me making sure I set up Stripe correctly after two weeks of no sales.
Thank God I have a great support system bc instead of presenting my work to an empty room — which I would’ve done — my sisters and one of my best friends come to support me… none of who actually knew what I’d been working on (“you’re a motivational speaker, right?”).
And that’s when it hit me: I haven’t been talking about what I’m working on at all. Instead of sharing myself and my work every step of the way, I’ve been hiding behind the curtain until I feel “ready” — exactly what FEAR: The Farewell Tour was meant to help.
So the work on myself continues, but now I have this one event under my belt as 1. feedback on my (lack of) marketing and 2. evidence that I can do it… and omg that feeling at the end of the event? Worth every penny 🤩
