Hello, friends!
Welcome to the official Facebook home for The Crucible of Becoming, a podcast based ministry that God set into motion and laid on my heart many many months ago. We (Anna Katherine Creative and myself) have been working on the branding to bring the heart of this to life with visuals and I felt like now was the perfect time to give it a Facebook home. To begin the journey here, I'd like to share a huge piece of my heart and the heart behind this.
About six months ago, the Lord really began to change my mindset about my circumstances. For those of you who don't know me on a personal level, I have been chronically ill since I was a young teen and had 13+ surgeries over the last seven years and a big part of my life has been spent in sickness. Over the last seven years my faith has been right along with the ebb and flow in my life and I got to a place of going through the motions consistently; living in chronic anxiety, always feeling like I wasn't wanted or belonged anywhere, always being sick, etc. And then suddenly - mercy stepped in! Around this time, I was put into community with many I now call best friends and in response to that, the Lord began changing my heart. I began to understand that I wasn't the only one feeling this way; that so many of us are struggling or are on the side of victory in our circumstances and have so much wisdom to give and in this realization, the Lord laid it on my heart for this ministry to be born.
So, you might be asking why "The Crucible of Becoming"? and the answer is very simple.
A crucible is defined as a severe trial or in which different elements interact leading to the creation of something new. I know the crucible of my life has been my journey through faith amidst chronic illness and the ways its impacted and bled through other areas. Because of this, the verse that stuck out to me the most when choosing a name for this was James 1:2-4.
When I began praying about this, the Lord brought it to my attention that I've been always been passionate about capturing human emotion and the authentic connectivity we have as people in my career as an artist. This was no different - storytelling has always been my heart and now, I get to do it more than taking photos. I get to have people sit on my couch and tell me the hardest days of their lives as we relive each other's testimonies and talk all about the hardest parts of living in Christ Jesus. It is my ultimate belief that through this retelling of our highs and lows healing will be had and we will shed light on causes and things that matter.
This is never ever something I thought I would be doing but I am so excited for this journey.
Episodes will resume on October 17th after a long break from the hurricane. They will be posted here.
