Hello from Virginia! When I looked up the definition of DULL, I did find a few words that describe me; toned down, slower, patient, quiet, placid, content and informal.
Now retired at 71, I have adjusted to the major shift in my lifestyle and have developed a new philosophy: Although aging is inevitable, it does not have to be boing. Boredom and old age seem to go hand in hand for many, but I choose to not allow boredom to creep into my life.
My confidence is high. I'm in a good mood and feel good most of the time. I have no enemies that I know of. Nobody treats me badly, and I have most everything I need.
It's like being a kid again. My life is free, my time is free, no boss, no pressure, no deadlines. My choices on how to make the best of my remaining time on this earth are mine.
After decades of parenting keeping house and working for 40 years, I find that standard chores are a total breeze. Cooking, cleaning, running errands, shopping are all a piece of cake.
I now have time to take care of my health. I go to the gym twice a week, walk 3 miles a day, yoga twice a week, and I eat healthy foods.
I have time to study nutrition, read labels in the grocery store and shop at farmer's markets for fresh fruits and veggies.
I volunteer once a week at a local food pantry. I play Words with Friends online, and visit friends and family who live out of town. Every week I eat out with in town friends.
My mantra is Don't Stop Moving! Don't wallow in the sins and mistakes of your past. The past is gone. Enjoy the movements and sounds of nature and the changing of seasons. Every day is NOW! Enjoy and be thankful!
