Special thanks to Joe Billetdeaux - Director of Alumni Affairs, Promotions and Licensing for the Pittsburgh Pirates, whose steadfast direction and coordination aided us, The Veterans Channel and the United States Marine Corps American Legion Detachment 726, Bethel Park, PA, in the presentation of our very first award which was presented to Luiz Clemente and Roberto Clemente, JR, sons of the late, great Pittsburgh Pirates Hall of Fame right fielder Roberto Walker Clemente, on October 5, 2022.

Roberto, who served as a Marine Corps Reservist from 1958 to 1964 was a stellar Marine who accomplishments, as a Marine, are noted the Marine Corps Hall of Fame and following his death, on December 31, 1972, received numerous military and public awards, recognitions and homages.

Accepting the award were Roberto's sons Luiz Clemente and Roberto Clemente Jr. On hand for the presentation were C.A.Truss and Lexi Kamphaus of The Veterans Channel, co-presenters of the award and Master Sergeant Chuck Burrow who was accompanied by members of Pittsburgh's United States Marines Corps Detachment # 726, Bethel Park, PA.

I tear up everything l hear our Anthem. I can't help but to think of the guys in my squad who were killed and wounded in Vietnam, the McKeesport 23 who were killed in Vietnam and those servicemen and women who are POW*MIA. I stand and shed a tear for them and l don't care what anyone else says or thinks.
