This 4th of July, we were sitting in my yard watching the fireworks across the street.

My grandkids had a blast watching them. Oohing, aahing, eyes wide with joy.

But across the street, I saw a young girl with her hands over her ears. She was utterly overwhelmed.

Same show.
Totally different reactions.
I realized this is precisely what happens with messaging in business as well.

When you try to be the loudest voice in your industry,
You might grab attention.
But you might also push people away.

When you understand your ideal client, you know how to communicate clearly and calmly with them.
You make them feel seen, safe, and connected.
You invite them to come closer, not covering their ears.

Not every audience wants to be wowed with explosions.
Some want warmth. Honesty. A steady voice in the chaos.

And when you understand that?
That’s when your message truly lands.

How well do you know your ideal client? If you need help, DM me.

Every Fourth of July, our family had a tradition: a picnic at my aunt’s house, followed by an epic kids vs. “old guys” softball game.

Now, getting to the ball field meant cutting through the local shopping center.

My uncles—always the pranksters—decided to play a prank on the ladies who stayed behind.

They tossed one of the other uncles into a shopping cart and had me sprint home to tell my aunt he’d been hurt.

Full drama. Full speed. Full-on laughter once they wheeled my uncle into the backyard.

It was ridiculous. It was unforgettable. And it was pure, joyful storytelling in action.

That story stuck with me—not because it was perfectly scripted or polished, but because it was unexpected, human, and full of emotion.

Excellent copy does the same thing. It surprises. It connects. It creates a moment.
✅ It pulls people in with personality.
✅ It makes them feel something—whether it’s curiosity, joy, or resonance.
✅ And it stays with them long after they’ve scrolled past.

Want your audience to remember you?
Don’t just deliver facts.
Don’t just “play the game.”
Be the shopping cart moment.

Bring your whole self to the page—your humor, your humanity, your heart.

That’s what makes your message memorable.

Who didn't love the teen idols who showed up in every issue of Tiger Beat? David Cassidy, Donny Osmond, John Travolta...

I didn't realize back then how these dreamy Pin-Ups were masters of visibility. They knew how to show up, connect with their audience, and leave a lasting impression! I felt as if each one loved only me!

Now, as a grown-up (who still knows every word to “I Think I Love You”), I see the business lessons tucked into those posters—and I’m spilling all the glittery tea in my July blog series:

From Pin-Up to Powerhouse: Building a Business That Lasts.

🎤 Week by week, I’m breaking down what teen idols did right—and how you can turn those same strategies into brand visibility, client connection, and long-term business success.

Stay tuned, and let’s fangirl over thought leadership together.
