The McLaren F1 LM in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 brings back one of my clearest childhood gaming memories 🏁

I used to enter races alone and drive around at the speed limit just so I could pretend it was my actual supercar.

And somehow, staying around the speed limit really worked.

I would cruise down the road, pull over somewhere, stop the car and just sit there looking at it like I had actually bought a McLaren F1 LM 😂

No racing.

No police chase.

No real objective at all.

Just a kid using his imagination and enjoying the car.

It sounds silly now, but I can still remember doing it vividly more than 23 years later.

That’s the funny thing about childhood gaming memories.

Sometimes it isn’t the championship you won or the difficult race you finally completed that stays with you.

Sometimes it’s the completely pointless little moment you created for yourself that ends up leaving a mark for life.

The race never ends in Yinzburgh.

FlatOut 2 is fire 🏁

This is exactly what a good sequel is supposed to do.

Take what made the first game fun, build on it, clean things up, turn the madness up a little, and somehow not break the whole reason people liked it in the first place.

Nothing like a sequel that actually understands the assignment.

The crashes still hit, the racing feels better, the chaos is still hilarious, and the whole game has that classic arcade energy where you can jump in and immediately start having fun.

That’s what I love about FlatOut 1 and 2.

They’re not trying to be too serious.

They just know what they are.

Fast cars, wild physics, aggressive racing, people flying through windshields, and enough ridiculous moments to keep every race entertaining 😂

I still haven’t touched the third one yet, but I’m bracing myself for an “experience” whenever that day comes.

For now, I just gotta shout out the team behind the first two games.

They made some absolute bangers.

Classic arcade racing fun right here.

TRAIL OUT is exactly the kind of throwback arcade racer I love finding 🏁

It feels old school in spirit, but still new enough to surprise you with some absolutely ridiculous ideas.

In this mission, there’s a plane flying around shooting missiles at whoever is in last place.

Because apparently regular racing was not chaotic enough 😂

I actually had a huge lead at one point and still tried to turn around just to get a better look at the madness behind me.

Probably not the smartest racing strategy.

But that’s what makes this game so fun.

It has that classic arcade racing energy where the whole point is not just to win, but to see what kind of nonsense the game throws at you along the way.

Crashes, explosions, wild missions, parody, over-the-top moments, and a team that clearly had fun making it all happen.

TRAIL OUT takes me back, but it still feels fresh.

That’s not easy to pull off.

The Fast and the Furious game gives me serious rental weekend energy 🏁

I never really had this one as my own game growing up.

It was more of a game I played at friends’ houses, watched other people mess with, and only got little pieces of back then.

Playing it now kind of reminds me of that old feeling of renting a random racing game, bringing it home, and trying to squeeze as much fun out of it as possible before it had to go back.

Man, I sure do miss Blockbuster 😂

This game is not perfect by any means.

The turning still has me fighting for my life, and I could definitely see it getting repetitive after a while.

But it has that weekend rental charm where you don’t need it to be a masterpiece.

You just need some cool cars, a few highway races, some customization, and enough weird little moments to keep you locked in for a couple hours.

That’s kind of where this one is landing for me.

Not amazing.

Not trash either.

Just one of those games that feels like it came from a time when you could take a chance on something, play it all weekend, and somehow remember it years later.

Roadsters on N64 is one of those games that takes me all the way back 🏁

This was probably one of my earliest and most played racing games when I was around four years old.

This and Mario Kart 64 were definitely holding it down for me back then.

And as silly as it might sound now, Roadsters used to blow my mind.

The cars looked almost real to four-year-old me.

The snow would leave tracks behind your tires.

Some maps would get darker, the headlights would kick in, and my little kid brain was sitting there like, “Yeah, this is basically real life.” 😂

Playing this jazzed-up version now is funny because obviously technology has come a long way, but the memory of being that impressed by it still hits.

That’s what I love about revisiting these older racers.

Sometimes it’s not about whether the game looks perfect today.

It’s about remembering what it felt like when your imagination filled in the rest.

I’ll probably touch a few more maps in this one too, because some of them have that late 90s, early 2000s racing-game charm all over them.

Roadsters might not be the first game everybody brings up, but for me, it’s one of those early racing memories that never really left.

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition with the Supra just feels certified 🏁

Everybody seems to have love for this game, and honestly, it makes sense.

It has that perfect middle ground where it’s a little edgier than Need for Speed Underground, but not trying so hard that it loses the fun.

The soundtrack is wild, the city layouts have personality, the races give you different ways to attack them, and the customization still makes it easy to build something that feels like yours.

That’s the thing with Midnight Club 3.

You can take a car like the Supra, make it your own, and just get lost in the streets for a while.

By modern standards, you’re obviously not going back 20-plus years expecting perfect graphics.

But if the core game is still fun, what else really matters?

And Midnight Club 3 still clears that bar easy.

Plus, these older games are easier than ever to revisit now without always needing the full shebang-diggity nostalgia setup.

Better screens, better options, cleaner ways to play, and the same old feeling underneath it all.

That’s why games like this stick around.

The style is there.

The freedom is there.

And most importantly, the fun is still there.

The race never ends in Yinzburgh.

Burnout Paradise Remastered still slaps 🏁

I know the remaster has mixed opinions, and I’m not even going to pretend I know every exact difference off the top of my head.

But from my memory, it still feels like Paradise.

And honestly, that’s enough for me.

The random paths, jumps, shortcuts, takedowns, and demolition are still so much fun once you get rolling.

There’s something about flying through Paradise City, spotting a ramp at the last second, sending it for no good reason, and either landing clean or turning your car into a soda can 😂

That’s the magic of this game.

It doesn’t always need a perfect race or some deep reason to play.

Sometimes you just want an open city, fast cars, stupid jumps, and enough chaos to keep every drive feeling alive.

I may not know every remaster detail, but I know one thing for sure.

This s**t still slaps.

The race never ends in Yinzburgh.

Need for Speed Rivals takes me right back to that weird first year of XBone/PS4 “next gen” 🏁

This dropped in 2013 around the launch of the Xbox One and PS4, and I remember not being super crazy about that first stretch of new console games.

Outside of NBA 2K14 and eventually The Last of Us Remastered, that first year didn’t really hit me the way I expected it to. I stilled played my 360 far more often.

And honestly, I wasn’t huge on Rivals back then either.

But going back to it now, I’m enjoying it way more than I thought.

The atmosphere is strong, the map has a cool feel to it, and the driving actually has that slick Hot Pursuit energy I can appreciate more now.

I’m in a Mercedes for this one, but having Ferraris back in Need for Speed around this time was cool too.

It gave the game a little bit of that exotic car feeling that reminded me of the older Hot Pursuit days.

Maybe I just needed time away from it.

Because now, instead of thinking about what I wanted next gen to be back in 2013, I can just enjoy Rivals for what it is.

Fast roads, sharp cars, police pressure, and a surprisingly good atmosphere.

The race never ends in Yinzburgh.

Split/Second is one of those racing games I really think more people should talk about 🏁

It came out in 2010, and while I’m not saying nobody played it, it definitely feels like one of those arcade racers that slipped past a lot of people.

Judging by the cover and the whole action racing vibe, you might expect something closer to Burnout.

But Split/Second really is its own thing.

The environmental destruction, the power plays, the way the track can change mid-race, and the constant feeling that something ridiculous is about to happen all give it a different kind of charm.

It might not be the most balanced or deepest racing game ever made, but it doesn’t really need to be.

The fun is in seeing what each track has waiting for you, learning when to trigger the chaos, trying different cars, and watching a normal race suddenly turn into a full disaster 😂

I do wish the PC version wasn’t stuck at 30 frames for me, and I’m sure there are probably patches out there I haven’t bothered looking into yet.

But honestly, it didn’t ruin the fun.

I still had a good time jumping back in and remembering why this game stands out.

Split/Second has that arcade racing personality I miss.

Loud, dramatic, slightly ridiculous, and way more charming than it probably gets credit for.

The race never ends in Yinzburgh.
