EDITORIAL | Last year was an avoidable disaster, and should never happen again. This year’s success shows what’s possible when private nonprofits and the county DHS coordinate their efforts.

Record numbers of people in the U.S. enrolled in Affordable Care Act health insurance plans this year, including nearly a half million Pennsylvanians.

And 90% of Pennsylvanians who enrolled — 446,994 — are paying much lower monthly premiums for Obamacare coverage, thanks to enhanced premium tax credits enacted under former President Joe Biden.

But those credits expire at the end of this year, which will mean dramatic premium hikes in 2026 unless Congress votes for an extension.

'The math is inescapable.’

A special print card featuring Paul Skenes’ autograph and a jersey patch from the right-hander’s MLB debut will go to auction in March, and proceeds will be directly donated to Los Angeles fire relief funds, Fanatics Collect announced on Friday.

An 11-year-old collector hailing from Los Angeles uncovered the card on Tuesday, and he and his family have since decided to sell Skenes’ card at auction.

Just three days after it was uncovered, the fate of one of the game's most prized baseball cards has been determined. Fanatics Collect announced Friday...

Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise reacts to the day in Pittsburgh sports news live around 5 p.m. Eastern.

He begins with an evaluation of the NFL free agency market at wide receiver, with reports circulating that the Steelers could be major players in it. Should they look to bring back familiar faces like Diontae Johnson and Mike Williams? Could they hurt their division rival and boost their own chances by adding Tee Higgins from the Bengals? And how much consideration should be names like Stefon Diggs of the Texans and Chris Godwin of the Buccaneers get?

Paul tackles those questions and more, then talks a little about the QB situation after Russell Wilson's recent comments that he's working to return to the Steelers, even as many are beginning to prefer Justin Fields as the 2025 starter. Then he gives his picks for the AFC championship between Josh Allen and the Bills and Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Plus the NFC championship between Saquon Barkley and the Eagles and Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders.

Steelers fans aren’t the only ones frustrated and baffled by what is happening with the franchise. So, too, is Ben Roethlisberger, who won two Super Bowls and led the Steelers to a third in a span of six years.

After another season ended abruptly without a playoff victory, the former quarterback is concerned the team for which he played 18 seasons might not be close to getting back to the Super Bowl anytime soon.

The Pirates lost 36 games in which they once led last season and had just 31 comeback wins. Their minus-5 differential between blown leads and comeback wins was fifth worst in baseball, and their 31 comeback wins were tied with Atlanta for the fifth least in the league.

A simple way for the Pirates to prevent more close-game heartbreak in 2025 would be to take the Dodgers’ route and upgrade the roster through free agency. But as Andrew McCutchen noted, that’s not how the club on the North Shore does business.
