Celebrates 4 Years with Special Edition of Black Therapy 101

PITTSBURGH, PA — November 2025 — Artist Talk Mental Health marks its 4th anniversary with a special edition of Black Therapy 101, an afternoon dedicated to connection, education, and healing within the Black community. The celebration takes place Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 3:00–6:00 PM at AIR Gallery (518 Foreland Street, Pittsburgh, PA).

This milestone event features an inspiring lineup of Black mental health professionals, creatives, and healers, including Dr. Darla Timbo, Dr. Amy Alexander, Sharise Nance, Quest (Jonathan Brown), and Andre “Mr. Able” Scott. Together, they’ll explore what healing looks like through multiple modalities — from clinical therapy to sound healing and men’s wellness.

Unlike a traditional panel, Black Therapy 101 invites guests to engage in interactive breakout sessions, offering real-world tools and takeaways for personal healing. Guests will also enjoy food provided by Dirty Bird and an atmosphere designed to foster reflection, connection, and growth.

“Artist Talk has become a support system for Black artists and the Black community in Pittsburgh and beyond,” says Sydney Davis, Founder of Artist Talk Mental Health. “These past four years reflect what’s possible when we choose collective healing — centering joy, authenticity, and community care.”

Since its founding, Artist Talk has hosted more than 30 community events, connecting hundreds through art, conversation, and culturally rooted mental health education.

AUGUST WILSON AFRICAN AMERICAN CULTURAL CENTER INVITES PITTSBURGH TO CELEBRATE THE SEASON AT HOLIDAY COMMUNITY DAY, DECEMBER 13

PITTSBURGH, PA — The (AWAACC) invites families, friends, and neighbors to gather for a day of festive joy and cultural celebration at its annual Holiday Community Day on Friday, December 13, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center, 980 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15235.

This free, all-ages event offers something for everyone, blending the warmth of the holiday season with the richness of African American culture and tradition.

Guests can explore a vibrant holiday marketplace featuring local vendors with one-of-a-kind gifts, enjoy live music and dance performances, and participate in engaging Kwanzaa activities that celebrate unity, creativity, and community.

“Our Holiday Community Day is a joyful reminder of how art and culture bring people together,” said Cathryn Calhoun, Director of Education and Community Engagement at AWAACC. “It’s a time to celebrate family, creativity, and the spirit of giving that defines this season.”

Announces the 17th Annual Keepers of the Flame Awards

PITTSBURGH, PA — [Nov. 19, 2025] — The Legacy Arts Project proudly presents the 17th Annual Keepers of the Flame Awards, celebrating the artists, elders, youth, and cultural leaders who uplift African diasporic traditions in Pittsburgh. The event will take place Friday, December 13, 2025, from 6:00–8:30 PM at the Energy Innovation Center.

This meaningful celebration is also LAP’s largest annual fundraiser, supporting year-round youth arts education, intergenerational cultural programs, wellness initiatives, and community-based arts experiences. Guests can also enjoy a Silent Auction featuring artwork, cultural items, and community-centered experiences.
