The smoothies at Pre Amp Coffee Studio have fun, music-inspired names, including The Velvet Underground, Kokomo, Strawberry Fields and Green Day.

I tried The Velvet Underground and Kokomo, and just like everything else they do here, you can tell they’re not skimping on quality. Velvet Underground was my fav with organic banana, cocoa, organic PB and date syrup almond milk. Kokomo has organic pineapple, mango and avocado, honey and coconut water.

I’m a big vinyl fan and when you add the record players always spinning, the concert poster walls, and the fact the coffee here is really excellent… this spot is just a really great vibe 🎶✨

Pick up a smoothie for some morning fuel, hang out a while, and definitely don’t forget the coffee.

There’s just something about food that’s as beautiful as it is delicious. 🌈🥟

At Amazing Dumplings in Squirrel Hill, these vibrant colors aren’t food coloring. They come from plants - veggies and fruits like spinach, carrots and purple cabbage. Owner Ping told us the reason for all that color: we eat with our eyes first, and when something looks beautiful, we’re more likely to remember it and want to order it again.

Our dumplings lived up to the name. My favorite was the colorful Spicy Hot Oil Sesame Dumplings, and they’re one of the restaurant’s most popular dishes, too.

And don’t skip the noodles! We tried both hot and cold versions. Their Biangbiang noodles are a specialty, with wide, hand-pulled ribbons tossed with flavorful sauces and spices. That noodle pull says it all 🍜

They’ve been Amazing Dumplings since July 4, 2022, but the story of this spot and its owners goes back to Sakura Teppanyaki and Sushi, making this a neighborhood restaurant with years of history.

It’s a Squirrel Hill staple, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. | h o s t e d |

There are few things more boring than a traffic cone. It just sits there. Orange, unassuming, telling you where NOT to go.

But take away the cones and suddenly everything is chaos. Which makes them pretty brilliant.

So, naturally, the Pittsburgh Pirates and pncbank have taken this unexpected Pirates good luck charm and turned it into an ice cream cone holder 🧡🍦

Let’s stop with the Augtober talk. There’s still plenty of summer ☀️ left, and F&F Pizzeria just opened an outdoor patio that’s perfect for soaking up every last drop of vitamin D.

They’re even growing their own beautiful basil and mint out there, so if those herbs seem especially fresh in your dishes, that’s because they are.

What we ate:

🍸 All three zero-proof cocktails from their thoughtful beverage program, as you’d expect when the Zero Proof crew gets out for a rare dinner together. They also carry local Virtue Signal Brewing N/A and we had a Boujee Bliss.

🍕 The Partanna pizza, which is now going to be my go-to here. Spicy + sweet with red onions, Calabrian chilis and housemade orange blossom honey. She’s a STAR ⭐️
