Sometimes you have no explanation other than, “God showed up” and He provided a way you didn’t even dream was possible… And sometimes even through loss, you can feel Him leading you towards something amazing.

When I heard Sami & Riley’s story of starting Petals From Kaye, that’s exactly what I thought of.

The name of this business has a beautiful meaning from how it all started.

After Sami lost her mom, Kaye, her family was given many floral arrangements from friends and family. While grieving her mom, she slowed down and truly noticed the beauty behind each arrangement and the love each piece carried.

The feelings she experienced during that grieving period slowly became a dream she didn’t even know she had.

Something that Sami said stuck with me after I left: “Flowers aren’t just flowers - they’re much more than that.”

And she’s right. Flowers are comforting during loss. They’re joyful during celebrations. They are a reminder that someone cares. And they’re a way to show love when words are hard to find.

And that’s exactly why Sami started a floral shop.

Today, Petals From Kaye has grown into three locations across Indiana serving Mooresville, Plainfield, and Danville. Sami is continuing the legacy of flower shops that have long been part of these local communities.

The same scriptures that carried their family through the deep grief of losing Kaye are still quietly woven throughout their flower shops, website and social media today… They are even woven into the gift item selections in their stores, reflecting the faith that helped guide them through it all.

The most common question people stress over in real estate is “how do I buy a new home if our current home hasn’t sold yet?” I want to answer that question for you in a really simple way ⬇️

If you own a home and want to buy another one, you don’t have to be on the streets by selling your current home to afford the next one. And you most certainly don’t have to move back in with your parents for a few weeks during the transition period.

While there are plenty of strategies for this situation (contingency structures, timing sequences, lease-back arrangements, etc) one stands out to me above the rest.

It’s called a bridge loan!

Think of it as a short-term financial “bridge” that helps buy a new home before selling your current one. You can use your current home’s equity as collateral, the loan typically lasts 6-12 months, and you pay it off when your current home sells.

That in-between space is exactly where I, as a Realtor, do my best work. That’s where I bridge the gaps for you - no pun intended 🙂

Not every option fits every person, but the right one executed at the right time can make this feel seamless instead of stressful.

The biggest mistake I see people make is waiting too long to have the conversation. The earlier we talk, the more options you have. The later you wait, the fewer levers we can pull.

A stranger came up to me last week and said, “Oh, I see you on Facebook all the time - I thought you’d be way taller than you really are.”

So, I wanted to set the record straight on a few things ⬇️
1. I'm 5’7" tall.
2. If you see me eating out, it's probably going to be at Tlahcos Mexican Cuisine munchin' on their Xalisco Ceviche.
3. My favorite color is GOLD. ✨

The Riccardi Family’s story actually started almost 6 years ago when I helped Katie and Cam purchase their very first home as a newly married couple.

Over the years, they made thoughtful updates, built equity, and positioned themselves for their next move.

Fast forward to three kids later, their next home came along in the most unexpected way. It was a For Sale By Owner listing.

You will know your kids as adults far longer than you’ll know them as children. If you’re lucky, you’ll know your kids for about 50 years. Your kids will only be “kids” for about ten of those fifty years. That means 80% of the time you’ll ever have with your kids, they’re not “kids.” Enjoy it while it lasts. Don’t waste those years.

The long and short of it? Real estate shouldn’t feel like a CVS receipt.

We’ve all been there. You go in for one pack of gum and walk out with a four-foot-long trail of paper you didn't ask for. For most people, the thought of selling a home here in Hendricks or Morgan County starts to feel exactly like that.

Before you even call a Realtor, the mental receipt starts growing:

• When do I even start packing? 📦
• Does my kitchen need a full renovation or just a coat of paint? 🎨
• The big one: Do I find the new house first or list my current one? 🔄
• Who can I actually trust to tell me the truth about the price? 🔍
• How do I stage this place while actually living in it? 🏠

It’s enough to make anyone want to stay put. That "scroll" of questions gets so long that it’s easier to just... not start.

But here’s the short version: It doesn’t have to be that difficult.

There are some places you walk into and you just feel it right away. That’s exactly how Eremos Coffee Co in Mooresville, Indiana felt the first time I stepped inside.

I had the chance to sit down with one of the owners, Tyler, and hear more of their story, and it made me see this place in a completely different light.

This didn’t start as some big business plan - it started in a garage! Tyler and Hannah were roasting coffee and sharing it with friends and family - just doing something they genuinely loved together.

Hannah had actually worked in this very space before, so when the previous owners were ready for their next chapter, they immediately thought of Tyler and Hannah. They saw their love for coffee, but more importantly, their heart for people and community, and trusted them to take it over and make it their own.

At the same time, Tyler and Hannah were in the thick of raising their own family, with two very young kids at home. It wasn’t the kind of timing most people would call “perfect,” but they took the leap anyway.

And what they’ve created here is so much more than a coffee shop.

The name Eremos comes from a Greek word meaning a quiet, secluded place… somewhere you can step away from the noise and just be present.

And when you walk in, you can feel that intention in everything.

The way the space is designed to bring people together is simply amazing. It’s not uncommon to see people gathered around tables, playing games, having real conversations, or just slowing down for a bit.

It feels different, but in the best of ways. Then, there’s the coffee itself!

Tyler has a background in biosystems engineering, and you can tell he brings that same level of precision and care into what he creates here. Only the top 3% of coffee beans in the world meet their standards, and he can tell you exactly where they came from, who grew them, and how they got here.

Like I said before: everything is intentional. ☕️

From in-house baking to locally sourced teas to supporting other local businesses, every detail reflects the same level of thought and care.

But more than anything, what stood out to me was their heart behind it all. They didn’t just build a coffee shop. They created a place for people to gather, connect, and be present… and that’s something really special.
