The receivership ordinance for the former Federal Reserve Bank building at 925 Grand is moving forward. The vacant, blighted property has sat deteriorating in the heart of downtown for nearly 20 years. The proposal directs the City to begin the process of placing it in the hands of a receiver to rehabilitate it.
Kansas City has used this tool before, and it works. The same approach at the former Robeson Middle School led to remediation within months after nearly two decades of neglect.
