Point Pleasant Live, the media program at Point Pleasant High School, is excited to announce that it has received state funding to help purchase a new camcorder and a new camera lens for photography and video production.
This funding comes from the work of Senator Amy Grady and Senator Eric Tarr. It will improve the program’s ability to cover school and community events with better quality and consistency.
"Point Pleasant Live continues to grow each year. This money will help us buy a new camcorder and lens, which we really need,” said Andy Layton, the program's adviser. “PPL is supported by the wonderful sponsors in our community, and we appreciate the state’s contribution to help PPL keep expanding. Our students get to do amazing things that few students in our state ever experience, and that is thanks to our community and administration.”
Senator Amy Grady emphasized the program's importance in the area.
“PPL is an important part of our community, whether it involves photography, news, live streams, or the many other roles they fill,” Grady said. “Senator Tarr and I wanted to make sure that the funds provided would help this great program continue to serve their community.”
Point Pleasant Live has become a source of local coverage through livestreaming, journalism, photography, and more, all done by students. With this new equipment, PPL will continue its mission to deliver content while giving students hands-on experience in media production and opportunities to engage with their community.
