When Milton first became part of our family, I quickly labeled him as a “difficult” dog. His sensitivity and anxiety felt challenging, and if I’m honest, there are still days when they are.
But as we’re coming up on two years together, I’ve realized something I never expected.
Maybe Milton wasn’t brought into our family so I could change him. Maybe he was brought into our family to change me.
He’s taught me patience, consistency, calm leadership, and to take a hard look at the energy I bring into every situation. And somewhere along the way, as I’ve been growing, our relationship has grown too.
I still have a lot to learn, but I’m grateful for the dog who keeps teaching me 🩶
