Here are some questions to consider if you’re thinking about getting a dachshund.

They are absolutely wonderful dogs! Milton brings us so much joy.

But they’re actually part of the hound family which makes them a working breed in a small body.

Many people get them expecting a lap dog.
And while they can be so affectionate, that’s not what they were bred for.

They thrive with structure, purpose, and daily fulfillment.

Without it, you’ll likely start to see things like:
• excessive barking/reactivity
• anxiety
• stubborn behavior
• difficulty settling

With it, they are incredibly loyal, smart, and full of personality.
