Update: we got the 4 prong wire to rewire it. Thanks!
We were so excited to finally use our vintage washer and dryer and then we realized the dryer isnt compatible with our rewired old home.🤦🏻‍♂️😅
We worked too hard to wait any longer to wash clothes in our home!!!
What can i do without spending way more money? $$$ is it okay to just buy a good adapter?
Id hate to have to rewire the dryer🙄.

Upgrade a switched single outlet to a duplex.

This outlet is under my kitchen sink and has a switch which powers my disposal on/off. I added an electric water heater under my sink as well that needs constant power. Is it possible to upgrade this to a duplex and have the top be switched and the bottom constant? Thank you in advance.

Both my electric panels say "Pushmatic" on them. I haven't had any problems, but is this the kind that have a bad reputation? Wondering how important it is to update before putting the house on the market.

EDIT: The open box is mostly the 220 to ceiling cable heat for each room. (I also have newer GFA/CA but can still use either one.)The closed box is for all the outlets and lights.

2nd EDIT: Thank you all for your responses! Although it's original to the 1970 build, they work fine and I will leave them as is. Apparently, this is not the brand that has been outlawed, so it can be negotiable if it comes up in an inspection. And my homeowner's just renewed for another year so I'm good there.

Google, yes Google LOL. Said because my house was built before the 60’s electrical was done differently. I’m just trying to swap these old two prongs for 3 prongs. There’s only two wires. Can someone tell me if I’m good to swap this out?! I don’t visually see a ground wire!

*EDIT* You have all helped me decide! Since there is no one clear answer, we will do it the right way and get an electrician out here to do all the outlets! I appreciate everyone’s input!

Question about 2Gang Receptacles

I’m moving into my garage and this is the only outlet on this wall I have to power my stuff and was wondering how many amps i can draw off this. My ac unit doesn’t draw more than 10 amps and my computer monitor etc no more than 4. I know about the 80% rule but this outlet is on the main 100 amp breaker.

GFCI Outlet keeps shutting off cameras- HELP!
Hello all!

I apologize if this isn't the right sub, please point me in the right direction if need be.

So a few weeks ago we took an outdoor outlet and changed it from 2 outlets to 4. We installed GFCI outlets that we picked up from Lowe's, pictured below.

Ever since, the cameras have gone down multiple times a day for 10-15 minutes at a time. IT's only these cameras, connected to the one outlet; we have a few other outdoor cameras plugged into indoor and outdoor outlets and no problems with them.

Any idea how much power the cameras draw and why they keep going down? I know it's not a software issue because it's only these cameras with this outlet.

Ever since we expanded from 2 outlets to 4, I've also gotten a wood pellet smoker that i've had plugged in and on for 8-10 hours straight without shutting off, and i'm almost certain that would draw more power than these cameras.

We even tried swapping the cameras to the other 2 outlets in that cluster and the same thing.

I don't know hardly anything about electrical, so any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Outlet burned just now

Sorry if this is the wrong place, just a bit worried. This outlet just burnt up in our washer/dryer room (opposite wall) WITH NOTHING plugged in it. Trying to get an electrician but no luck yet. Is it critical? Also trying switches on breaker panel now to see which on turns off the room outlets... thank you!
