We finally finish up our study of 1 Peter with chapter 5. Forgive us for the poorer quality of sound than what we usually produce. Our equipment does not yet properly host 3 microphones, but we will get there.

Join us as we discuss humility, doing things out of love, the martyrdom of Charlie Kirk, and Erika Kirk as she is now living these scriptures.

Forgive us for the poor quality of the sound on this episode as we do not yet have proper equipment to host more than two people. We finally finish off 1 Peter with chapter 5 with powerful discussions of stewarding the flock, casting your anxieties on Jesus, and being sober minded.

"So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." 1 Peter 1-5

I want to share an excerpt from the book, The Spirit of Fire.

"Now that we know we are God's temple, how do we display His glory to the world-especially to those who do not know Him?

One of the most powerful ways is through the active presence of the Holy Spirit working through spiritual gifts. When the Church walks in both power and purity, the result is undeniable: people recognize that God is truly among us.

"But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all, the secrets of his heart are disclosed, and so, falling on his face, he will worship God and declare that God is really among you." 1 Corinthians 14:24-25

This passage speaks specifically about the gift of prophecy, but the principle applies to all spiritual gifts: they reveal God's glory in a way that causes conviction, worship, and awe.

The gifts of the Spirit are not for performance. They are for drawing people to Jesus. They are tools for edification, not platforms for applause.

If the gifts are not leading people into repentance and intimacy with Christ, they're being misused."

The gifts are highly important and effective for God's Kingdom, but we must continue to seek the giver and not the gift! You can find this book on Amazon. Search "The Spirit of Fire" with the name "Charles Patterson"

Our hearts and prayers go out to the Kirk family. This was a needless act of terrorism and it stirs up hatred against evil in our hearts. However, we may take comfort knowing that Charlie Kirk is in Heaven with the King that he died defending. I have no doubts the Father said, "Well done good and faithful servant." While many mourn here on Earth there is a great celebration in Heaven. Welcome home, Mr. Kirk.

2 Timothy 3:5-7 "Having the appearance of godliness but denying its power. Avoid such people. For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth."

Unfortunately this is the condition of American society. Many claiming Christ as savior but refusing to live as if he is lord. It has never been about appearing that we have it all together, but humbly recognizing that we don't, and that we need Jesus to keep us together.

So, how do we handle this situation? Paul says to avoid such people. To be clear, we are not to outright avoid those who do not know God or those who have stumbled, but rather avoid those who refuse to live according to their confession. "Bad company corrupts good morals." 1 Corinthians 15:33

The most important thing you can do when applying this scripture is to first examine yourself with the lens of the Word. Am I confessing Christ with words but not with my actions? Am I saying I follow Christ but continue to live how I please? Do I refuse to forgive? Do I refuse to submit to authority? Do I refuse to humble myself when I am wrong? These are the questions to ask.

We should strive to be Christians who walk in the demonstration of the power of the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 2:4-5 "My speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God."

If you're going to appear godly then you might as well walk in the power of godliness that comes from Christ. I hope everyone is encouraged today to examine themselves. We, The Preacher Guys (Aaron Goins and Charlie Patterson), are certainly going to be examining ourselves more thoroughly.

Join us as we continue through 1 Peter. We're starting in chapter 4 this episode and discussing what it means to "suffer in the flesh"

Charlie and Aaron continue through 1 Peter. Now, in chapter 4 Peter starts this section with the mindset of Christ, which is to suffer the flesh. What does this mean? How do we do it? Join us as we discuss this part of the mindset of Christ.

Join us as we talk about putting to death our flesh, baptism, and how the thief on the cross wrecks a lot of so called "theology".

In this episode, we dive into 1 Peter 3:18–22, where the apostle Peter unpacks the powerful truth of Christ's suffering, death, and victory over sin—and what that means for us today. We explore what it truly means to “put death to the flesh,” not just as a spiritual metaphor, but as a daily ...

First, I just want to say sorry we have been slacking in keeping up with posting all the episodes and engaging! It's been a busy summer so far, but a good one. Enjoy the new logo and a new (late) episode!

In this episode Aaron and Charlie get into the nitty gritty of "taking it on the chin" when you have to suffer, no matter how big or small, for the sake of Christ. Early Christians counted this a great honor and we should as well. It means we are bearing the mark of Christ loud and proud. Charlie also shares a recent experience of what American "problems" are sometimes (not always) like, and how they aren't really problems.

May this episode bless you and encourage you.
