neurology went a little better than pulmonology 🫶🏼
first of all, Dylan got to come with me, which is always exciting. most of the time he’s working, so I end up soloing our out-of-town appointments. he happened to be off that day, and it was really nice having him there with us.
during the appointment, the neurologist’s biggest concerns were the possibility of scoliosis and Elena’s tight, pronated ankles. she already has a curve in her spine that’s only 2 degrees away from being considered scoliosis, so our game plan is to focus on proper trunk positioning as much as possible. as for her ankles, once her new AFOs come in, we’ll want her wearing them for about 3 hours a day, whether she’s in her stander or not, to help keep her feet and ankles in the proper position.
on the positive side, the neurologist noticed improvements in Elena’s hypertonia and her social awareness, which was really encouraging to hear. she also told us that we’re on the right track with all of the therapies and interventions we’re doing for Elena right now. 🤍
